Product Description

This Parker NP6 series inline needle valve has a 316 stainless steel body, nylon 6/6 hand wheel, PCTFE-tipped stem, threaded bonnet, and double ferrule compression fittings on both ends for leak-resistant seals. It connects two pipes going in the same direction. The 316 stainless steel body provides higher strength and more corrosion resistance than stainless steel. Operating temperatures range from -65 to +350 degrees F (-54 to +177 degrees C) at up to 6,000 pounds per square inch gauge (psig) CWP (cold working pressure). The threaded bonnet provides a durable pressure tight seal. The non-rotating PCTFE (polychlorotrifluoroethylene) tipped 316 stainless steel stem conforms to ASTM International (ASTM) A276 standards for stainless steel bars and shapes and provides tight shut-off and coarse regulation of both liquids and gases. The nylon 6/6 hand wheel, used to raise and lower the stem tip into and out of the flow, is strong yet lightweight and is resistant to corrosion from most chemicals and solvents. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) packing, which resists chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures and is located below the power threads, separates the threads and the thread lubricant from the flow. This panel-mountable valve comes with a 316 stainless steel panel nut. This valve ships with a black nylon 6/6 hand wheel with white, blue, green, red, and yellow options (available separately). This valve is used for process, instrumentation, and power applications in a variety of industries.

Needle valves are used for precise regulations of liquids or gases in a piping system by moving the tip on the valve stem (the needle) into and out of the flow. Both the shape of the stem tip and the fine threads on the valve stem help the needle to be placed at precise points between fully open and fully closed. A needle valve's material type determines its usage—for example, metal valves are suitable for high pressure environments, while composite valves can be used in light weight applications The bonnet on needle valves can be integral (forged or milled as part of the valve body for strength), threaded (for durable pressure-tight seals where removal or replacement is not needed), or union (fits over the valve stem and held in place with a ring nut for repeated removal and replacement). Hand wheels, lever, and T-bar handles are made from various composites and materials that can be color coded for quick identification. These valves are used as either stand-alone valves or as flow control valves for gauges or instruments that could be damaged by flow and pressure fluctuations. Needle valves are suitable for use in fine adjustment and regulated flow applications in industries such as gas, chemical, hot water heating, and in scientific labs and textile manufacturing.

Parker Hannifin manufactures electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic motion technologies and systems for fluid handling, filtration, sealing and shielding, climate control, process control, and aerospace applications. The company, founded in 1918, is headquartered in Cleveland, OH.

The only issue I have is that the internal porting is 1/8" sized. You don't know that until you get it in hand and look past the fittings. I was expecting a full 3/8" port through and through. Only the compression fittings are 3/8". But, it is super high quality and about 1/2 cost of other needle valves.
