The series feels a lot like a computer game to me. The characters complete missions, get loot and more money and use it to upgrade their gear and take on tougher opponents. Being a gamer, I love that aspect of it. The only thing that is missing, for me, is the conclusion. The end of the book is not wrapping up the final balance of the events that took place and that is my only gripe with this book.
If you read and liked the first book, you will like this one at least just as much. If you haven't are just considering reading it, I think that it is worth picking up. Start with the first book in the series though.
We are back with Capt Liam and his buddy Nick fighting piracy in the high orbitals of the Mars-Jupiter asteroid field. Quite a bit of space combat with a little merchant ing on the side.
Reading book 1 will give you a good feel for the story and enough background to fill in the relationships. Reading book 2 is not necessary.
I am interested in seeing what the boys will do with a new ship...
If you liked the first two...this is a must buy. you will not regret it.
I really hope there is a fourth book already being written, and a 5th in the wings. I don't think I can wait until next year for another one! Just please follow the main Characters! No side tracks please...if you do you will own me another book very soon after with them.
I find the series very entertaining. Liam is maturing and his relationship with Tabby developing. The whole crew Nick, Marny, Jack, Tali, Celina and the folks just play off of each other so well. The adventures are real and this is a crew you just grow to like.
Keep them coming. I am having a great time.
The only reason for the four star was the story going a little BV Larsen. I understand explaining military tactics - but be once and done. The repetitiveness was growing weary. The characters are in space - it can be hostile environment; just like earth.
It is how one arms oneself not only with physical weapons and training but with the mental weapons of wits, character, soul searching, humor that make for development, and you have both. Keep up the story telling! Go for the big novel!
