With Flower Power, Anyone Can Have a Green Thumb
Parrot Flower Power is a sensor that can be "planted" close to a plant, indoor or outdoor, in a pot or in open ground. It precisely measures, in real time, the parameters that are crucial for the growth and good health of plants: soil moisture, fertilizer, ambient temperature, and light intensity. Plants have vital needs. Parrot Flower Power uses advanced sensor technologies to monitor the plants' welfare through a range of parameters. Using the data gathered every 15 minutes by the four sensors, the user is able to understand the exact requirements of their plants. The materials chosen for manufacturing the Flower Power ensure the product is watertight and robust. The Parrot Flower Power can be used both inside and outside (from -10 °C to 55° C). Waterproof, it can withstand watering, rain, and liquid fertilizer. Put it in the ground or in a pot and monitor the changes in your plants and garden.
Bluetooth Smart & Real Time Monitoring of Multiple Plants
The data retrieved by the Parrot Flower Power is sent to your Smartphone or Tablet using Bluetooth low energy technology, allowing it to communicate with Bluetooth Smart Ready devices. Bluetooth Low Energy, integrated into recent Bluetooth version (v4.0) is the latest wireless technological standard which consumes very little energy. When you are near your Flower Power, you can use Live mode to check the light intensity, ambient temperature and soil humidity. Every 15 minutes Flower Power measures four data sources and stores the data in its memory. Every two hours Flower Power sends data to your Smartphone via Bluetooth Low Energy. If you are not within Bluetooth range, it keeps the data in its memory until you are back within range (data kept for up to 80 days). Alerts are sent to your Smartphone each time one of your plants needs attention. There is no need to be near your Flower Power to get the notifications. A Parrot Flower Power can monitor several plants in the same pot, in a planter or on a small plot of land if the conditions of watering, soil drainage, exposure to the sun and wind are uniform.
A Free Dedicated App
Download the Parrot Flower Power App on your Smartphone or Tablet. The application will then connect your Flower Power to the Parrot Cloud (via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi) where the data is analyzed. After the data is analyzed, you receive an alert in real time when one of your plants has special water, fertilizer, light, or temperature needs. Follow the changes in your garden directly or simply consult Parrot's vast but easy to use database. Using the application, the user can select their plants from the database in the Parrot Cloud, which has been developed by botanists. More than 6000 varieties are listed and custom advice is given on maintaining each plant.
Garden — monitor multiple plants at the same time
With the Parrot Flower Power App, you can track the status of multiple Flower Power sensors, and the health of your whole garden.
"To Do" list
As well as monitoring the status of different plants, the Parrot Flower Power App will create a "To Do" list based on current alerts and the predicted status of your plants over the next few days.
Water & Fertilizer
The Parrot Flower Power App monitors the moisture level in the soil surrounding your plant and can track it over time, allowing you to plan for regular watering. By also tracking the fertilizer levels, you'll be able to plan when to add plant food to your scheduled watering.
Heat & Light
The Parrot Flower Power App will give you a chart of the temperature levels in the soil of your plant and compare it with the ideal levels for your chosen plant species. The Parrot Flower Power sensor also keeps track of the amount of light your plant is receiving and will warn you when conditions are too shady or too bright.
When the water, heat, light or fertilizer levels of your plants are in need of special attention, the Parrot Flower Power App will create an alert to tell you what needs to be done.
If all the levels are currently good, the Parrot Flower Power App can help you plan ahead for when you need to water or feed your plants.

Well, my technophobic wife loved the idea and we decided to "plant" in in a sick indoor Cycas to see.. or rather, diagnose, the problem. Within 36 hours, we found that the Cycas wasn't getting enough light and there was TOO MUCH FERTILISER ... who would have thought? It even guided us to water the plant more, so as to get rid of the excess fertiliser and told us the temperature and moisture were OK. My wife said, "I thought of doing the same thing" ( and she's had a green thumb for decades) "But having it all spelled out, with data and recommendations...it feels much more scientific and satisfying"
This is pretty amazing. I noted another review that stated that it doesn't tell us how much more to water, or how much fertiliser to add, or how much more sun is needed. Actually, that would be great, but maybe its expecting too much. It does show in real time how much light the plant is getting and this suits us fine. It told us our indoor fig (Ficus) needed more light, the temperature, moisture and fertiliser levels were fine, so we moved it nearer to the window. Lets see how many days it needs. When we find and solve each problem, she plans to rotate the device among her plants. She doesn't feel spending on multiple devices is required or worth it, but if you have money to burn and no inclination to check for yourself, it might do the job.
1.Only iOS software, no iPad version, you have to use the iPhone app in 2x mode. No android version yet and no link to PC/Mac
2.Cost: quite pricy, however, I don't plan to use it to monitor every plant, only as a diagnostic tool for the problem ones. And in a garden, it can monitor many at a time ( it monitors the soil and if the soil you have planted the plants is the same, the database will extrapolate based on the plants you have added to your garden
3. The app takes ages to update.. I found the data I wanted by logging in to the online site, where the recommendations were ready and awaiting me, though still no available on the app.
Update:The iPhone app is pretty useless.. I can't get any recommendations from it and had to rely on the online website. They really have to iron out the app
4. I would suggest an improved iPad version and an android version , plus a small app written for both mac and windows, as many people would prefer pop ups on their computers
Update: I took off a star for the iOS app. It doesn't work reliably. For those struggling with the app, i suggest check the online site in your computer browser, thats where useful info seems to come. The bluetooth connection is far from seamless.
I need more time to be sure how good this is, but it looks very promising.. and most important , my green thumbed wife loves it!
If you use it as a trouble shooter, you might get by with just one. However, if you want it to monitor your entire garden and supplant your human senses (including common sense), then you might need to spend a small fortune on monitors.
If you're on a budget, buy just one and use it in doubtful, or problem areas and move on once you solve the issue. I'll update the review once I get more experience with the monitor, but for now it looks very promising!
Update:02/07/14: The sensor doesn't do much , the app has to be fixed so that alerts are sent to the app.. it hasn't happened so far, and we have lost interest in the product. I do get information when I log in online, but that isn't good enough. Until Parrot makes the app work and the updates come regularly to your phone, don't buy. It will be frustrating and irritating. I keep my stars at 2-3

"The application ergonomics has been corrected in order to simplify user experience, and to be closer to the day by day monitored garden : indeed, a flower power is still able to monitor many plants, but only one by one." ([...])
Not sure if they were hoping people would go out and buy more, i'll be doing the opposite. Save yourself the money and try a different system. Parrot clearly is more interested in developing new toys rather than improving existing tools.
