May 31st 2016 update.

This product will drive you crazy when it not performs correctly which is very very often. When it works fine it is a proper five star product.

And What an Sneaky move from Parrot, to split the reviews based on colors so these carefully made reviews where A FIRMWARE BUG IS SPOTTED DOESN'T GET AS MUCH ATTENTION FROM USERS.

JUST SEARCH FOR THIS PARROT ZIK 3 HOLLOW THUMP NOISE, CRACKLES, RIGHT EARCUP NOISE AND YOU WILL SEE. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH PARROT ZIK 2 THAT THEY DIDN'T FIX!

Sometimes reapplying the sw firmaware manually via usb will fix the issue or removeing the battery for over 3-4 days.

I still like this product and hope for a SW release to fix the problem! Do you hear Parrot?

For me It is a 5 star product with a 1 star product serious problem with 3 star product compromises. I just hope they fix the right earcup behavior so as to get past it with the compromises and think of it as a 5 star product.

This product can be think of as an example on why you shouldn’t throw every feature there is into your product development until you foresee what could be the compromises you’ll invariably incur into.

To begin with, My number one look after feature was Noise Canceling, mostly the ability of filtering out TV noises/talks, and distant but very audible music (28 – 50 dB), and the Parrot Zik3 are the ones that do the better job not only trimming a full 30dB of noise but also doing it in the frequency (medium) where voices are found (reportedly unlike the qc25/n60nc), so far I’m happy with the performance.

Short review: buy something else.

After one week with the Zik 3.0 wireless headphones I can say with certainty it was a huge mistake to sell my wired Bang & Olufsen H6.

Let's start with the unboxing.

The headphones are housed in an attractive plastic shell that displays them beautifully. Getting them out of the attractive plastic shell was a hassle. (Putting them back in so I could return them even more so.) I was very excited to open them up and get them on my ears so I could listen to the wonderful sound so many reviewers raved about. Instead I was sitting on my couch trying to figure out how to extract the headphones from the puzzle they were encased in without destroying the box they came in or harming the headphones themselves.

I got them out of the box unscathed and was pleased to find that the wireless charging pad I bought specifically for the Zik 3.0 worked flawlessly. Slightly odd that the side with the battery was not the side they charge through but every time I got to set them on the pad instead of plugging them in was a small pleasure that it just worked.

As for never having to plug them in? Well I was disabused of that notion the very first time I tried to use the headphones. A lot of hullabaloo is made over the great accompanying app that gives you so much control over the listening experience. And to be fair, my listening experience would have been ten times worse without it. Apparently the headphones do not ship with the latest firmware installed which is more than annoying. The app tries to make the updating experience fluid and wireless and while it's a great idea in theory it didn't work in the slightest. I was mired in frustration because the connection kept failing during the update process.

I was first introduced to the Parrot Ziks this summer by a new acquaintance who had a pair of the Zik 2. I tried them out for a bit and I really liked how light and elegant they seemed in comparison to my big, bulky Sennheiser Urbanites. Now, there's nothing wrong with the Sennheisers, they work extremely well and very reliable. And despite the size and weight, they are very comfortable to wear all day. The only thing they DON'T offer is active noise cancellation, and my new office does tend to get very noisy from time to time. So when I saw the new Zik 3 on sale at Amazon for $279, I decided I'd give them a shot.

Thanks to Amazon's same day shipping, I could try them out the very same night. Well, or so I thought. When the package arrived and I opened the box, I was greeted by a very stylish and high quality retail package, which put the headphones on display like an exhibit in a design museum. And they do look nice that way. The Sennheisers, on the other hand, came in a similar sized, but much less spectacular cardboard box with an image of the headphones printed on the front. Parrot definitely wins this round.

Next, of course, comes the more interesting part: the setup. With the Sennheisers, this was extremely simple: take the headphones out of the box, flip the switch in the "on" position. Done. To pair them, you simply flip the switch another position down to enter pairing mode, then you look for them in the Bluetooth menu of your smartphone or laptop, click "Pair", and you're off to the races. With the Ziks, however, that was a different story. First, after taking them out of the box, I found that they wouldn't turn on. I pressed the button longer, but nothing happened.
