The writing makes you feel like you are right there.
Many of the reviews that I have seen on books will say something like "It was so good I sat down and read it all in one sitting."
You can't do that with this book.
Mr. Jarvis makes every word count. This is a rare talent anymore. He will say more on one page than many writers will say in one or two chapters.
You will not want this book to end.
I wish I could have given more than 5 stars for this book.
I will be looking forward to many more books by Mr. Jarvis.
Tomas Kosar is a Slovakia patriot and a delegate for the Slovak People's Party when Germany creates political unrest for the Czech Republic. Tomas rebels against the impending oppression that he sees coming for his country resulting in him being labeled a traitor and taken as a political prisoner. With their father in prison Stefan, the oldest son, will have to leave graduate school to come and help with the family's clothing factory while trying to keep his hot-tempered, revenge-seeking brother Patrik in check if he want to make sure Patrik doesn't end up in prison as well. Things are further complicated when Maria, the daughter of their father's long time business partner, shows up to get the factory back on track. Life is in full turmoil for this broken family as they try to keep their family business running, save their father and find some modicum of happiness.
In my humble opinion this book can easily be labeled as literary perfection. It is rare that you come across a story that is so moving that when disaster strikes you feel the same loss and rage that the characters feel. Author William Jarvis has done a masterful job bringing his characters to life and dropping the reader in the middle of a tense political climate, where at time you feel like there is no hope for this family that is only trying to survive.Read more ›
