The size of the inside bore of these units is perfect for RG-8 & LMR-400 50 ohm coax cable, and the small plastic barbs on the cover grab onto the outer cover of the coax just enough to hold it in place without penetrating the cover. BTW, one of them is outside where the coax enters the shack and no problems so far (though I did wrap that one with duct tape to keep the rain & snow out).
Overall, good product, a fair price & they work - what more can one aks for?
It's a great way to combat the voices in my head and speakers but dream of a way to silence the tower outside. This'll do for now.
I deliberated between getting a smaller core that fit the relatively small diameter speaker cord and the much larger core where I could put several loops through it (see my User Photo Upload) if needed. I'm so glad I got the larger core. I experimented with just 1 wire running through the core, then 1 loop (2 wires), then 2 loops, and finally reduced the interference to a level I can't hear when I put 3 loops through the core.
I put the ferrite core on the main "speaker out" wire that goes from the computer to the bass speaker, where the 2.1 surround system then splits off to the 2 satellite speakers.

It has to be taped with electrical tape to stay on properly. Install as close as possible to the plug end. It comes without any directions so use the net if you need more info.
