This wonderfully illustrated guide is very helpful for lay people and all seeking to understand one's inner life, as well as a help for therapists and their clients. The illustrations touch a universal understanding of each part of our inner world and how it impacts our outer world. The explanations and vignettes that accompany the illustrations allow the reader to easily comprehend the psychology model of parts work as defined by Internal Family Systems(created by Dr. Richard Schwartz). The book allows us to deeply understand, laugh, make personal connections and give us practical tools. I loved it and keep reading it over and over. Arlene Brennan --Amazon Reviews

I noticed people complained about not having enough this or that. Please understand the parts are created from someone elses parts. They give us ideas on how parts portray themselfs and the emotions they stand for. That's why they have blank cards to add your own.
I have been diagnosed BPD, DID, PTSD and they really help with my therapy and understanding my emotions. Great buy!
THANK YOU Tom, Lauri, and Sharon!
Then on page 39 is a clear example of misandry - "Multitasker...With the large number of roles that must be filled in today's world, ESPECIALLY BY WOMEN, many people need this part". Really? Does the author forget that 93% of workplace fatalities were of males in 2017, that's not because 'large numbers of roles must be filled especially by women'.
Also on page 39 we are introduced to the multi-tasker that looks a lot like the eight armed goddess Ambika, right down to the bracelets on every wrist, which gives a hint of the Eastern influences in the book.
There may also be a bias on my part due to my familiarity with guided imagery techniques. I do not trust the write ups in here to be safe enough or complex enough to get good results. So I may be being a harsher critic with my 4 stars than this text deserves given its purpose and its statement that you should use these techniques with a therapist anyway.
As for IFS itself, I think I'm finding these ideas very useful. They mesh well with things I have already done and felt and I can see a lot of the sense in them. The Firemen in particular make it easy to codify a lot of the things I regularly do that are difficult for me to understand otherwise.
I felt a bit silly "talking" to my parts but having a mental conversation with the aspects of our personality (our "parts") during times of stress, or even when we are contemplating our life choices or making professional decisions really helps clarify and balance the whole thought process.
Techniques are easily implemented into daily cognitive approaches and practice.

E' un libro interessante che espone una modalità di autoindagine, Lo consiglierei a coloro che sono interessati ad investigare le cause dei comportamenti umani, i propri e quelli altrui..
