Good Solid Writing in a Variety of Stories

PASSAGEWAYS is a collection of 16 stories by four authors. The stories range from amusing (an old lady with an unusual "weapon" for an unusual purpose, in Mattie Cummins), to romantic (Follow the Moonbeam), heart-rending (Grand Champion), mysterious (Three Days) and sweet (Morning Song) to..... downright creepy! (The Magician). There is a thought-provoking Christmas story at the end (Spirit of Christmas) that will make you wish for a "do-over." And finally, Invisible Thread - the longest in the collection - tells a story that is suspenseful and intriguing. The author has left just a tiny bit of that "thread" hanging at the end of the tale that you may tie up any way you like.
I recommend this collection. You can read one story at a time or several, but I think you will want to ponder a few of them for a while afterwards.

Excellent Collection

An excellent collection of short stories on a common theme. I love the variety of genres in the stories, too. I brought this along on my vacation recently and it made for a nice companion. Rebecca Carey Lyles found some great stories and wrote some of the best ones. In particular I loved her story "Morning Song"...what can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic. Peter Leavell's story "18 Minutes" was hilarious, it was like being told a humorous story by an old friend. Also his story "Grand Champion" touched me as well. What a beautiful story between a dad and his daughter on the subject of suffering. (SPOILER ALERT)...but I love how the girls Dad realizes that the heart can only handle so much grief and steps in at the final moment. Good stuff all in all.

This is a collection of short stories, so there isn't one plot. The stories are exciting, come from different authors with very different perspectives, and have an air of mystery about them. And you can complete a story in one short reading session. Very entertaining.
