Cain’s Salvation

I have read the strictly erotica books by this author in the past, and so I was a bit curious as to how they would do when it came to a Romance with only bits of erotica in it. I’m glad to say that I was extremely happy and pleasantly surprised at how well they were able to pull of this book.

The story begins with Cain and Faith planning their wedding, and then the twist that leaves Faith confused as to what is going to happen to her next. I believe that the author did a great job with Faith and her dealing with the issues of Cain ending their relationship. The pain that she was feeling was throughout the story was very well written, it felt extremely lifelike.

The inner battle that Cain was feeling was also very well written. As bad as this sounds, I enjoyed watching the torture that he was going through during the course of the book because it made the story that much better.

I can say that the authors were still able to bring their style of smuttiness into the book, because the sex scenes that take place were just well written. They were done with no sense of crudeness whatsoever. They were done with style and elegance, and added to the story just the right amount.

My only complaint with the book would be the large amount of characters that were introduced. When you go into the book, you do know that Faith has plenty of sisters, but it was a bit overwhelming when they were all brought up and their love interests were introduced as well.

Overall though, I did completely enjoy this story and I really can’t wait for the next one in the series to be released!

**Additional review of bonus content**

I really loved the new epilogue that O’Rourke added to this story.

WOW is all I can say. Cain and Faith story so real. Two broken people have to fight their way back to each other. The McKinnon sisters are feisty and know how to take care of family. Faith broken from a Dear John letter from Cain who saw so much in Afghanistan. Cain was back and needed help to find his way back to Faith and it was Faith's sister who gave him that push but was the push enough? The characters in this series are so really and Sarah did a fantastic job and dealing tastefully with real life issues.

Just when I thought Cain was it here comes Jake ready to take on Harmony who is Faith's sister. Again Sarah dealt with real life issues in this book but did it very tastefully. WOW Jake had a hidden agenda and thought he was doing the right thing. Harmony has a daughter Heaven who will just blow your socks off and what a relationship Heaven forms with Jake.
Sarah did an outstanding job and I cannot wait to read more of her books. Just awesome

4.5 stars out of 5

I loved Cain’s Salvation and I could not wait to see Harmony and Jacob’s story. Once I started with this I could not put it down. This series just keeps getting better and better. Hard As Stone was written beautifully and it dealt with real life issues. I did not think any man would top Cain but boy was I wrong. Ms. O’Rourke gave readers a male hero who was off the charts hot. The author brings us characters that you cannot help but love and want to reach into your kindle and hug them. Yes while reading Cain’s Salvation I was a mess but Hard as Stone was an emotional ride that had me biting my nails.

We met Harmony McKinnon in the first book. She is a single mother after divorcing Tanner (DOUCHE CANOE #1). My heart broke for Harmony while she was married to Tanner. She suffered violence that no woman should go through at the hands of the man that swore to protect and cherish her. What I loved most about this character was her love for her daughter. Where her marriage failed, she saw her daughter as a gift. Harmony does not have faith in men at all, and really who could blame her? Her focus is her daughter Heaven. Heaven is just the most adorable little girl.

Jacob stole my heart in the first chapter, yep he did. He is back in Paradise and is working uncover for the DEA. But his real motivation is to seek revenge on the man responsible for his sister’s death. Jacob has been set in his life; he loves his job of 20 years and never saw himself as the settling down type of man. Jacob has never seen the likes of the McKinnon sister’s, and once he sees Harmony and little Heaven, let’s just say he has a new outlook on life.

With the help of Heaven, Harmony lets her walls down and goes on a date with Jacob.

Cain's Salvation - The Men of the McKinnon Sisters #1 - Stars: 4

I really enjoyed reading this story. The characters were easy to relate to and were described well. There was enough back story provided to get you hooked! Sometimes I laughed out loud, other times my heart was breaking and I even had tears in my eyes. And now a bit about the story...

Cain had loved Faith for as long as he can remember. However their differences had always kept him at bay. When her parents died in a car crash when she was 16 he came back from Medical school to comfort her as a friend. Later he returned to Paradise, Tennessee - their small sleepy town - in time for her to go off to college. When she returned they started dating and were soon engaged. All was going wonderful until he was called up by the National Guard to serve as combat doctor in Kandahar, Afghanistan. 9 months into his tour he can't stand the sand, desert, and death surrounding him. He starts to question his worth and fears he isn't the right man for Faith. Try this story out to see what war can do and how time, faith and love can heal.

Favorite passages:
- One day could feel a thousand hours long when you were surrounded by the violence of war.
- It was time to let her go. He had to release her from their promise of forever. Her freedom was the only gift he had left to offer her now. The man his Faith had loved was dead and the shell left in his place was good enough for no decent woman.
- "I'm just a shadow, honey. A man that doesn't have a soul left to lose."
- "You have scars, Cain. Some of them you can see; some you can't."
- He'd watched her hug, kiss and fondle more men then a whore working shore leave.
