So after everything that you come to know with Tyler an Maddie, this book seals all your "Feels Completely" it's going to put everything together so you can look back at it all, through all the risks, all the troubles, twists and All That Fire Hot Passion these two have and give you a finale you will just smile about, it isn't exactly how I pictured these two (Julie an Johnathan) would be bringing us to a Completed Series, but I still Loved it,
It's def a different form of writing for Julie Huss fans but it's not to far off, In simple I Loved The Sin Series, it's a series that makes you think about what does happen daily to people when great loss's occur or that life isn't perfect, and how people tend to deal with it all. Just how easily it is to kind of crack and then find that wow ya might've chosen right, that somewhere, somehow your on the right path, as in Tyler's an Maddies chaotic life, years of pain an sufferering and then to find that things an people can heal can move forward, can help each other!!! Passion Rising gives you kind of a different perspective of all that's happened throughout the other 3 books with some other dramatic flare thrown in.... Obviously <3
This is just a kind of hey think what ya want, feel what ya want...but at the end of the day life here on Earth, well it's going grant ya the opportunity to kind of think outta the box and that we all probably think of that stuff at times in our Lives anyways, as we should!
I thank Julie. Johnathan, Nicole an Michelle for the chance to read all these a bit early even though this last one I was barely in front of you and then I just needed to kind of soak it all in. Go back an retread my highlighted parts an Notes in all the series because this is a series that Two People came together to write an give to us the fans a wonderful whimsical theatrical fantasy of just Crazy Life and how it affects us... How Sin City can affect. I thank you all for letting me be a smidgen of a part of it just as an eavesdropper an then as a book owner,,,
If you haven't jumped aboard this Huss McClain train, what the heck are you waiting for. Get to one clicking and enjoy these
Maddie and Tyler face their emotional demons, specifically the specter of Scotty, whose opinion mattered greatly to both of them. His core values are a beacon shining light into both their souls. Scotty’s epitaph of “For those I love, I shall sacrifice” works equally well to describe the passionate devotion that Maddie and Tyler share.
While I loved that readers got some follow up on Maddy and Tyler, I felt the last book meandered a bit (almost like Maddy and Tyler’s prior years aimlessly wandering through their daily lives). I had hoped for some answers to my questions about Pete and the DEA, but didn’t get them. I did get a funny, heart-warming story about two complex characters, and for that, I am thankful.
Passion rising is the emotional conclusion to Julie A Huss and Johnathan McClain’s humorous, sexy, action-packed series, Original Sin. Where these lovable characters end up is anyone’s guess, but know that where one goes, the other will follow.
I went into the series with certain ideas. I have read JA Huss’s books for YEARS. And I think I sort of had this idea in the back of my mind that even with a writing partner, her trademark suspense and twistiness would be the dominant voice. As I read, I felt myself waiting for that a-ha moment and it was completely wrong of me. I had to press pause and shake it off. I pressed play and remembered that this is something new.
Was the writing fantastic? Yes. The characters were complex and had depth. They were easy to like and relate to. And Tyler’s quirks became almost adorable. Maddie’s growth was a pleasure to watch. She tried, failed, tried, and failed a bunch more and yet she still dusted herself off and tried again. They worked for their ending. They fought for it and in the end, they deserved it.
At a particular point in this story, I was torn. I wasn’t feeling it exactly – but what surprised me, was that even though I was having my doubts about it, it hit me emotionally. It was a beautiful moment that hit me right in the feels and caught me completely off-guard. Which I think is a testament to the ability of these two. Impact. It’s all about the impact. They led me there – they got me to a place where their words would be able to affect me. Because they ensured I was invested in the characters and their lives.
I look forward to their next project and I really think that after reading this series that I will be able to go into the next book with more of an open mind. To be able to shake off what turns I expect the story to take, to stop looking for the surprises in the shadows and just enjoy the ride.
