I was fortunate to be given a review copy of this book before official publication. I have read some of the books in this series in the past. They have all offered pretty good content, but I was totally impressed by the truly solid content in this book. For sure, it is their best book in a long time. The theme “Passports to Success” is pretty consistent throughout the book, but what I liked the most was learning about the failures. The various case studies written by the end-users themselves are surprisingly frank about what worked and what didn’t. These case studies and a couple of other chapters specifically point to things that cause a BPM project to fail. Some honest eye-openers. I’ve been in BPM for a while and I still picked up several pointers that I intend to apply in my own work. Nice work guys!

I am fairly new to Business Process Management although I do know that the technology has been around for some time.
I found this book to be a huge help in getting to understand the “how” better, along with the “why.” The chapter “BPM Success Manifesto” by Nathaniel Palmer actually put things into perspective for me for the first time. It is clear, concise and gives step-by-step on how to develop a business case for BPM.
I skipped over a couple of the more technical chapters and will circle back to them when I know more. The case studies are pure gold – they (about dozen different companies in different industries) really lay out in detail exactly what issues they faced, how they overcame them and their final outcomes. I don’t call this book a major page-turner or a quick read, but I have made lots of notes as I am working my way through. Would certainly recommend it. Highly.

Well written and straight to the point. The award-winning case studies in this book detail how we can benefit from their experience, inherit their wisdom and share in their knowledge. At the same time, they also share their experiences of what not to do, giving us the unique opportunity to learn from them.

What seems to be overlooked both in the book description and by reviewers is the very comprehensive explanation of the modern definition of BPM in the Foreword by Keith Swenson. You can actually read the full paper in the “Look inside the book” preview.
This is ground-breaking stuff. The BPM definition has not been updated since it was first "invented."

Another chapter not getting enough attention is the one by Nathaniel Palmer called “The BPM Success Manifesto.”

The whole book is filled with really, really top class information you can learn and use. Very much recommended.
