I enjoy fast-pacing, and this one rocks along at a perfect speed. This author hasn’t forfeited the complexity of character development. Both Braelyn and Danny are stand out characterizations, with all the clever and subtle shadings that make the reader care and empathize with them.
The dialogue between them was rapid-fire, as they defended themselves from each other, and the heat that developed between them permeated each page of this well thought out and cleverly plotted story.
Author Staci Troilo has the deft touch that allows the reader’s thoughts to head in one direction quite deliberately … only to slam down the presupposition that the plot would be one to easily guess.
To divulge more of the storyline would spoil this read for some, and I enjoyed it far too much to deprive anyone of the pleasure I’m certain they’ll experience within its elegantly constructed pages.
I’m so looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Staci Troilo now has another avid fan.
Braelyn Edwards leads a seemingly uncomplicated life, buried in work, so why is she suddenly targeted by a killer? It’s up to Danny Caruso of Nightforce Security to get to the bottom of the problem—while trying to protect her. Against her wishes.
Does that sound like the set-up for roller coaster ride?
These two bristle together, argue, banter, and end up in dangerous situation after dangerous situation, all the while trying to fight the attraction between them. If you like your romance mixed with peril, and your mystery with suspense, be prepared to be swept up in a story that will have you eagerly swiping pages on your Kindle. I couldn’t put this one down. Both Danny and Braelyn are people I cared about instantly, and the clever twists in the storyline were more than enough to satisfy this mystery fan. This is a complete standalone story, but the first of a series. I’m already looking forward to book two. Highly recommended!
Braelyn Edwards lives a simple, uncomplicated life. That is until someone tries to kill her. Danny Caruso is hired to protect her and learn the identity of the would-be killer. But Braelyn is strong-willed and determined that she doesn’t need his help.
As you might imagine, sparks fly between them but in the end, they can’t fight the attraction they feel for one another.
The plot was well-developed and kept me on the edge of my chair. In most books, I guess the identity of the culprit, but not in this case. Staci has a real winner on her hands with Password and I look forward to the next book.
I needn’t have worried.
There was brilliant scene-setting throughout, with interesting and vibrant characters, all wrapped up in a totally realistic and believable scenario.
Braelyn Edwards first struck me as an ordinary working girl, hardly someone who would need a bodyguard. But someone had attacked her, so she could be hiding a secret. Danny Caruso has trouble believing she is innocent too, although she seems so ordinary. He is convinced she had to be mistaken for somebody else.
She mysteriously denies knowing of any reason for the attack, and this is when their incredibly fast-paced banter begins. The chemistry between them fizzles with electricity, and I ended up enamoured by the two of them to such an extent that I forgot all about the plot. I just wanted to watch and listen to the two of them together. I suspect we are seeing the birth of a relationship that will sell a lot of books!
The ending was unexpected, with a very clever twist I didn’t see coming.
Staci Troilo has created two masterful characters for this first book in the series, roll on the next one!
This was a fun read-and will read her next novel.
