Editorial Reviews

From the Author

We cook and eat with the seasons. In summer our cooking is mostly done outside on the barbecue grill. In winter it moves indoors and the kitchen is filled with the smells of roasts and stews... And pasta sauces and risottos. When I first started cooking risottos all the recipes I found made enough for a family of 4 - or 6. We are two. Over the years I have made a few adjustments to the traditional risotto: I've scaled the recipes back to be just enough for 2 people (multiply if you are cooking for more) and I've altered the traditional ratios of rice to condimenti. Most of my recipes use more condimenti, making the resulting risotto a main course rather than a second course. I've done the same with the pasta. The changes have allowed us to enjoy wonderful pasta and risotto dishes as often as we want. I hope you enjoy the recipes in my collection as much as we do.

Kate Zeller grew up in the Midwest, USA, and moved to France in 2004 - with stops in Ireland and Andorra along the way.

Always a passionate cook, she decided to lend her expertise to others just learning. She started a menu planning service, Thyme for Cooking, in 2006, focusing on fresh food and easy recipes with detailed instructions for meal preparation.

Because she has so many stories to tell, she decided to write Thyme for Cooking, the Blog. The blog also lets her showcase more complex, creative recipes that may not be suitable for the menu planner.... In other words, it lets her play with her food.

Her cook books are a collection of her favorite recipes from both.
