I'm at the ripe young age to remember Pat when he joined Gene Autry on his radio show, "Melody Ranch", by and by came television with "The Gene Autry Show" (1950), and he was with Gene again. Then in 1965 until 1971 he was Mr. Haney in the hit show "Green Acres".
Love the author Sandra Grabman, with her versatility having written articles, mainly about raising a child with disabilities, for specialty magazines for many years, she has now turned her attention to book-length biographies. Her other published books are Spotlights & Shadows: The Albert Salmi Story and Plain Beautiful: The Life of Peggy Ann Garner, No Retakes! and Lloyd Nola - of course this book on Pat Buttram which gives us some insight of what Pat Buttram was really like.
As Grabman states: -- "My purpose in writing this book was not only to tell you the life story of this brilliant man, but also to bring a smile to your face. Throughout the book, I have included many of Pat's jokes for your enjoyment. If they make you laugh, my goal will be achieved". And folks she has just done that, flat out given us a gem to enjoy when you're down on any particular day.
This books is loaded with stories and photos that will keep you from putting it down. I've been fortunate enough to read Grabman's other biographies on celebrities, this is one of her best.
Here a few of: "PAT'S PEARLS OF WISDOM"
1. Which one will get more reconstruction -- Iraq or Cher?
2. The savings and loan bail-out will cost every U.S. property owner $200,
Can the Japanese afford that?
3. It's a wise person who, when swimming or angry, keeps his mouth shut.
4. The best way for us to get a man on the moon is to put a woman up there first!
Pat wrote not only his own material but that of some of his friends, as well. Would you believe President Reagan, Yes indeed that's a fact.
Buttram was Gene Autry's pal, now with Pat gone there was a huge void in Gene's life. Gene took it very hard and you could see tears in his eyes whenever anyone brought up his name. They both had been through both good and bad times together, they were almost like brothers
This is the second edition which includes new information, as well as new photographs, supplied by Pat Buttram's friends and relatives.
It's invaluable for film historians or for movie fans who love wonderful talent and remember him with deep affection.
Very reasonable and a good value for the price --- For product description and editorial review check this out on the Amazon site above my review.

Big thank you to Ben Ohmart and his staff at BearManor Media, a small press that publishes BIG books. They pride themselves on publishing quality entertainment biographies, so they often put out the first book on unique subjects -- plus specializing in books with nostalgic themes and keeping classic Hollywood alive not only thru his publishing house, but thru his own books.
