- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2016First, you do not need to be a Wing Chun practitioner to benefit from reading and studying this book. The author uses the martial arts as taught by Francis Fong as a springboard to delve into the development of the mind, body, and spirit. In this age of the UFC and mixed martial arts, we sometimes lose sight of the mind and spirit elements of the martial arts and tend to focus mainly on physical component. This book reveals Francis Fong's lessons on the importance of a strong mind and spirit in becoming a better martial artist and human being. The book is broken down into two sections. The first section describes the lessons the author learned from training with Francis Fong. The second part of the book offers advice on how to apply these lessons to your life. There are indeed many paths to mastery. This book provides a very enlightening one based on the lessons of a world-renown martial arts instructor.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2017Jim Brault has beautifully presented the story of his relationship and experiences with, and the teachings of, one of the great Wing Chun teachers of our time, Sifu Francis Fong. If you are interested in Wing Chun Gung Fu, and the beautiful philosophy of a man whose real life experience straddles both east and west, this book should be on your shelf. Sifu Fong has much to offer, and his story is not only inspiring, but so very genuine, and beautifully told by Mr. Brault.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2016I've been considering training at sifu fongs school and in my research I discovered this book and ordered it as soon as it came out on Amazon. I am only half way through and already I have a great respect for him. This book isn't just about martial arts (while it is written about the arts) it is about life. Great book for anyone interested in learning a new way to think and grow.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2019I just finished reading it and I really enjoyed. I've been a wing chin practitioner most of my life., In the Jason Lau Lineage. I have trained with and am friends with Francis Finds students. The author did a fantastic job
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2019The book is inspiring. It didn’t tell you too much on techniques, but it told you the way what wing chunner should be when learning and practising wing chun. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2016One of the best books I've read on the topic of correct mindset for the martial artist, who actually wants to apply the same principles to his daily exchanges. Most of us will never have to fight for our life, but encounter 'small battles' each day.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2016This is not just a book on a martial art or a martial artist, but is also a book on how to practice any art, but most especially the Art of living a good life.

Probably one of the most useful books I will ever own, and I have a lot!
I love Wing Chun and I am fortunate enough to also teach it.
There were many insights that I was consciously aware of, and I enjoyed the clarity of the different explanations and analogies.
There were also many insights that I was unconsciously aware of, and thanks to the Lessons section of the book, able to articulate for myself and apply to my training and my life.
A big thank you to the Author Jim Brault and to his Sifu, Sifu Francis Fong for exemplifying everything that is good about Martial Arts.
