This is NOT a book about meds, the diagnosis or treatment of bipolar disorder, not at all. This work is about finding oneself and getting into the work of living again after perhaps having had a bad episode or two or after having a bad setback, which was my case.
I find this is a good book for the person who can concentrate well again, for the person who is focused and set on making for themselves a better future. This workbook will have the person doing some soul-searching, but only to the extent that one wants to explore. There is no psychiatric work in this book. This is a book about goal setting and finding one's path.
There are basically eleven focus chapters, each focused upon different aspects of the "Recovery Journey." Many Useful suggestions abound, and I found the wide margins very helpful. This is a truly to-be-written-in book, one to make one's own, to explore ideas and create concepts. Every page has at least one inspirational quote, an idea that I loved. Suggestions are numerous, and sources and a bibliography at the end of each chapter left me eagerly tempted to go out looking for more information at every turn, excited to expand on my "Recovery Journey."
I have never before in all of my years as client nor as a mental Health Professional seen a book quite like this one. It's about time someone came out with this book, and apparently it has been on the shelves for 12 years through many printings. Had I seen it before I would not have been ready for it. It came along in my life at exactly the right time.
