The two are out for a picnic with their pet dog, amidst a giant cornfield. Aunt Emily suggests that they (her and the boy, Patrick) paint a picture of it. Patrick gets out the yellow paint, but they soon find they'll need more than that. A succession of colorful animals appears, each requiring a different color. As the story continues, the animals enliven the scene, building towards a fun twist ending.
This is one of the more nicely illustrated picture books I've seen lately and it has a great story that goes along with it. I would definitely recommend it as as basic book for teaching about colors, or for anyone who enjoys looking at well-designed picture books.
