I was concerned about losing the cap. So I drilled a tiny hole in the side of the cap and put a piece of 15 lb monofilament fishing line through it with a big knot in the end. I tied the other end of the line to the plastic handle on the other end of the drive. OCD? Maybe, but I won't lose the cap.
I absolutely love this product.
Update on Black Friday 2013
Yesterday, I was working and was using two bibliographic software programs open at the same time. I got the rainbow wheel of death on my mid2012 macbook pro retina. I needed to reboot. After that the drive is not recognizable on either PCs or macs. I don't know if it was my doing, incredibly crappy software or a drive failure. However, I can't even find the drive on any of my computers to be able to use a disk utility to reformat it. Since it is too small to be a paper weight, it is now expensive and useless. I am in the process of contacting all three companies involved. I had backed up stuff on 11/2, but it's still very inconvenient.
There's no activity light on the drive, however this thing writes so fast that in some ways it's almost (but not quite) a moot point. I mean, you usually have a writing indicator on your screen when you save/write. Sometimes with drives though, the writing indicator can be removed before all the data actually gets written to the drive. But this drive is so fast that based on the numbers I'm seeing in CrystalDiskMark, I'd think just counting to 2 (or 5 if you're paranoid) after you save/write to the drive (and all writing indicators are gone from your screen) before physically removing the drive and you'll be just fine. (if you are in the habit of using the "safely remove hardware" option instead you don't even need to worry about this).
The cap on mine has not come off and while not "tight", it's not overly loose either. All in all, I am very satisfied with this drive!
That said the device itself lives up to it's published specs. Write speeds average 130MB/s for a single large file (specing it with a large number of small files is not fair to the device due to the large system overhead o dealing with creating all those file handlers). Read backs are exceeding 300MB/s though I think my systems Rapid storage tech SSD caching is skewing that figure. With that in mind I compared performance against a number of 2.0 sticks (a couple professed to be multi channel high perf) and found it consistently beat all (R&W) by a factor of 10 or more. Those who expected it to meet the USB 3.0 spec of 4.8 Gb/s must have skipped over the device specs that only claimed 120MB/s Write and 200MB/s read. As long as the memory holds up for a reasonable number of uses I'm happy.

however, after reading the reviews of this device i tried it out, and it is awesome! super fast! i just got it, copied a 2gb movie file in about 15 seconds ...
so if anyone was wondering, it is fast on a macbook even with usb2.0.
very happy with it.
also note : the size is quite a bit larger than a typical memory stick so do mind you have the physical space to plug such a thing in. its about 5-6cm protruding when plugged in and about 3cm wide and 1cm high so dont expect to plug anything in the neighboring usb port while you'v got this in. for me the size was irrelevant as i only want something to throw into the tv for sharing large movie files.
note2: i did install mac ntfs support (opensource stuff, just google it), so that i could reformat it as NTFS as this was the only way i could get greater than 4gb file support for this tv, as my tv does not recognize the new standard exFAT but that is not a limitation of this memory stick thats just a quirk of my TV, so just a tip for anyone else in the same boat.
My TV is a Toshiba 47" smart 3d led : 47VL963
5 stars! could not have wished for more! exactly as described.
BUT Rubbish grip when attaching the cap to the end.
It is for ever dropping off and getting lost even with the briefest tap.
Had to resort to driving in a sliver of paper into the cap head to tighten the gripers and then had to super glue the receptor on the back of the stick to stop the now "tighter" cap pulling off the end and exposing the circuit board!
Pathetic oversight in design for what is a VERY reliable and quick USB 3 stick.
My ten year old kingston stick stick and clip on cap cips on as firmly now as it did the day it was bought.
Gets a litte warm in use, but not uncomfortablely or worryingly so.
The width and height are a bit wider than ideal and can prevent stick being able to connect where usb slots either side are already in use or usb slot is sunk back a long way.
Shame but recommend looking for a slimmer model with better cap fitting!
It is a bit large (in terms of physical size), may cause problems with other peripherals in contiguous USB ports, but it is also light and fast, and very sturdy with its metal body.
I lead a "nomadic computer life" divided between my home computer and work computer, but I like keeping my files, and most importantly my programs, and all it's settings handy and with me all the time. To accomplish this I use portable software (no installation needed, saves settings to the program folder) like the one provided at PortableApps.com, on a daily basis, even at home.
This is the first thumbdrive I used that is fast enough and suitable for running portable apps directly from it, it is not as fast as an external hard drive unfortunately (I notice a delay in certain actions, especially searching or indexing) which I did not notice with my external HDD over USB 2.0. Still it is very fast for running some pretty complex apps (Like Photo editing GIMP, Firefox and Blender 3D Modeling), even through USB 2.0 formatted with exFAT file system. (Will try soon with FAT and NTFS to see if there are any performance gains)
One minor irritation is that it is wider than other sticks because of the electronics that makes it so fast. I bought an AmazonBasic USB 3.0 4-port hub and both are working very well. I recommend you buy a hub or you will lose a usb port on most laptops due to its width.
The details are hazy (purchased last year) but it was in the order of 120-150MB/s write speeds, and read speeds were slightly higher.
After quite a bit of use, it is still working well. Doesn't get excessively warm in use, unlike some fast sticks which can be terribly hot after being used for a short period.
