Performance was stuck in the 20MB/s range, just like with my old USB 2.0 card reader.
I read about the UHS-1 cards and was a bit skeptical that performance would really be better. Manufacturers often make wildly exaggerated performance claims.
I am very happy to report that this is not the case here. I benchmarked this card using ATTO, and found write speed of 39MB/s and read speeds of 57MB/s for buffer sizes larger than 64KB . This is actually faster than what Patriot claims, which is 35MB/s for writes, and 50MB/s for reads !
I couldn't be happier with this card. I can now transfer video from my Canon T3i camera and Canon HG21 camcorder in about 1/3rd the time it took with my other SDHC cards which are class 10 but not UHS-1.
The HG21 camcorder includes a 120GB hard disk, but only a USB 2.0 interface, and tranfers top out at 25MB/s. So, using this card, video transfers to the computer are faster than from the camcorder's hard drive.
Note that if you don't have a USB 3.0 card reader that supports UHS-1, there will be no performance benefit to getting this card. Most photo and video devices do not yet take advantage of write or read speeds beyond SDHC class 10.
When tested in a USB 2.0 card reader, the performance of this card was the same as most of my other class 10 cards, in the 20MB/s range for reads.
I'm got this card to use with my MacBook Pro, and will be keeping the card in the SD slot at all times. I needed extra space on my computer for the Native Instruments Komplete 8 suite (75-80gb) because I had the data written on my internal drive but it was constantly taking up too much space. I didn't want to always carry around an external hard drive since I like to produce in the living room, my bed, and even friend's houses sometimes. So this card was perfect since it allowed me to save all the data to read from yet act like it's an internal SATA drive since it barely sticks out of the MacBook Pro. The read speeds are incredible, I noticed a big improvement since I USED to have the data on the 7200rpm internal SATA, and loading samples in Kontact and Massive are noticeably faster. I've only had it for 3 days at this point, but it's definitely and impressive SD Card and I give props to Patriot for it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a similar situation or anyone who really takes a lot of video on a DSLR.
Note to those who say "It must be your camera or computer!": Nope. My cameras and computers are all spec'd to work with class 10 SDHC/SDXC cards and have worked well with other cards.
I also use my sd cards to transfer large movie files. My dvd collection has been converted/ripped then put on all kinds of flash drives. Again this Patriot reads and writes the fastest out of all the SD flash drives I have tried. When Im in a hurry to transfer five to ten GB movies the Patriot is the flash drive I use knowing it will take the least amount of time.
As far reliability Ive been using the Patriot for about 3 months and never had any type of problem. Ive been using all types of SD cards for about 18 months without any problems. When I need to buy another class 10 flash card it will be this Patriot for sure. Cant beat the price/speed combination.

My last SDXC card could get 9 raw photos before it locked up. This one let's me get 10 which is actually the reported limit of my camera. Also 128gb is great. Will buy again.Published 14 months ago by ...
