The keys are not bad, they do not feel like Cherry MX browns but I would say they feel better than the browns I have felt.
The software is terrible, its difficult to use and I often find it locking my keyboard with the game mode randomly. Game mode prevents any keys that havent been assigned from working, this is frustrating because there is no way to stop it from turning that off. If patriot fixes this I would be more willing to reccomend this keyboard
So far my favorite function is the "Rain" effect where the keys light up random colors like in the picture I attached.
Response time is great no problems there.
I do like the wrist rest, I typicaly never use them but this one feels great.
+1 for the aluminum finish, just what I wanted.
They keyboard is very well made, having an aluminum chassis that is very sturdy and durable. As for the mechanical aspect of it, it does have brown switches in it, which as far as I can tell is suppose to keep it quieter than the others but still retain the amount of pressure needed to hit a keystroke. But, and this is just my opinion, it's just as clicky sounding as any other mechanical keyboard. But it's still comfortable to type.
The colors are the backlighting are great. It has the full spectrum of visible light at it's command. You can literally selected any color from the color picker that your eyeballs can discern. The patterns that it can run through are great eye candy as well. The ability to just light up the keys that you need for that particular game is one of the greatest things ever.
When I first plugged mine in and installed the software for it, it let me know there was a new firmware available for it. So I downloaded it and installed it. And it killed the keyboard... None of the keys would respond. I tried everything from changing ports to rebooting, trying to download the firmware again etc. Nothing worked. No search in Google could tell me anything. I did manage to completely wipe the firmware off of it and could get it to type again, but they keyboard wouldn't light up at all. So after days of talking to their tech support via email and their website and getting no where, I decided it was time to take it back and swap it out with a new one. When I was at the store with the new one in hand, I received an email that finally told me how to factory reset it. Something I searched the entire net for and couldn't find the answer to. So on a whim I decided to hook it up to a store computer and did as I was told. What do you know, it actually worked. So I ended up keeping it and is what I use now.
If for some reason you get this and the firmware messes up the keyboard all you have to do is simply hold the Function button (the one with the viper on it) and Pause/Break key for about 10 seconds. It will reset itself.
Now... the software? It is a true abomination. I've not seen such awful software for setting up color profiles (I color-code WASDQE, array+math, a few other things, and then everything else gets white) in a very long time, maybe my first RGB. I've used keyboards from Coolermaster, Logitech, Corsair, numerous others I'm not thinking of, and none were so shoddily set for configuration.
There is an issue with the hardware on one level, which is the opposite of Corsair's RGBs. You need to pick what I would call "bold" colors. Don't pick light blue, it'll drown in with white/grey. Pick a deep blue. The RGBs have a lot of light flooding in, so the more bold, the more the keys will stand out.
Knowing what I know now, I would still buy this. A great price, kind of a stiff feeling to the keypresses. Maybe not stiff, a muffled click. It is not unpleasant. And the build quality, the heft of it in your hand, is great.
