Pros: Got these from a local store for the same price because I didn't want to wait for the shipping. I popped them in and my system posted no problem. Went back into bios and activated the XMP profile and boom. Automatically adjusted itself to 1600mhz @ 8-9-8-24 timing. The voltage was set to 1.8 by the mobo, but I set that back down to the recommended 1.65v. The heat sinks are heavy and not hollow aluminum like the Corsair Vegeance ones. (I own a set of those in my other rig)

I was skeptical about buying Patriot memory because all of their stuff was priced so much lower than the popular companies, but I highly recommend that anyone on the edge of buying this ram to do it.

Passed memtest, passed prime95 blend test testing 80% ram.

Cons: None. After seeing the quality of this product, I'd buy more if needed. Nowadays, 8gigs is all you need for gaming.

This memory is great. However it will try to clock its self down to 1333 and 9,9,9,24 timings on a AMD based system. With my motherboard, I was able to clock it at 1600 and 11,11,11,28 timings without to much issue. The ram is incredibly fast, and actually more than I needed by a large margin. The textured surface and copper cores actually do do a good part to cooling the ram and keeping it stable in overclock applications (The ram has sheared off fins with a textured surface, this increases area in which heat dissipates without increasing the size.) I originally bought this for two reasons. A) I needed to replace the ram I had from an older motherboard, because I could no longer get a amd 770 chipset motherboard that was worth my time (DDR2.) B) I have always chose Patriot as my main brand of memory in my computers due to their high reliability. And with the need to replace my Abit AX78 motherboard (old I know!) Because my power supply fried my motherboard causing 5 capacitors to blow. (Power supply was supplying 14.940 volts on the 12v line, max should be 13.2 volts! Tested with voltmeter.) So I bought the 970A-G46 from MSI, this memory, and the Seasonic SSR-360GP power supply to get my system back up and running. And I am exceedingly happy with everyone of the products I bought.

Edit: Old review, but I wanted to state, that with the 970a-g46 and upgrading my processor to fx-6300, I was able to get the 1600 mhz with the XMP timings after enabling it in the bios. Before I had the 720be Phenom II. There was also a huge increase in memory bandwidth with the upgrade including the 1600mhz at the 8-9-8-24 timings.

I'm using this kit with an FX-8120 and a Sabertooth 990FX. This kit is pretty solid. My only concern is that it slid around inside the packaging during shipping, and one of the heatsinks dislodged in the packaging. Stuck the panel back on, pressed on the thermal adhesive, and we're back in business. There's really not much to say, other than you rarely need more than 8GB of RAM, speed and timing make negligible differences in performance. Also, unless you physically break RAM, the odds are that it will run forever.

Not much to say about it I guess after 3 months of use - it works, it's fast, and it was cheaper than other options I was looking at. Heatsinks appear to be substantial and not cheap, and they look good too. Stess-tested with no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Patriot memory in the future.
