I need a wire to keep my pigs in. The description says "small nuisance animals" which isn't very descriptive. I took a chance, and as soon as I opened the box and flipped it over I saw the size chart that would have been super helpful when I was shopping. I bought the wrong one. Oh, well. Here's a pic of the chart so hopefully no one else makes the same mistake.

I bought a plastic bin and cut holes for the wires. Put a nail on one side of a board to hang it on my fence; other side of board a smaller nail to hold this item. It worked great through rain and snow!

It solved my squirrel problem at the bird feeders. It did not take long for the squirrels to learn that messing with the bird food was electrifying.
The feeders were positive and the pole was ground. The birds could never make a complete circuit.

Since we use use a rope to open the lid and drop the trash in from the deck above, a simple bungee was not a good solution. I tried some elaborate latches, but the raccoons would eventually figure it out and the rest of my family could no longer get the lid of the trashcan open. Hence, I was the only one that could throw the trash out. Does that mean the raccoons are smarter than they are? :-).
Anyway, the fence did the trick. Give them a little jolt and they will go to my neighbors trash from now on. I captured the effects on my game camera if you want to see the electric fence in action.

I live in a very forested area of the Chicago suburbs with lots of wildlife. Have this thing hooked up to some wiring that I run around my backyard garden. Works like a charm! I've got a camera on the garden and it's caught numerous fat raccoons getting a shock on the nose as they try to ravage my veggies in the middle of the night. I've gotten zapped myself a few times. With boots on its not bad at all, a tiny zap. Standing barefoot on the grass though, woooooweeeeeeee... heck of a jolt!

Rango is an escape artist. She can find her way out of any fence we put up. I finally had the ah-ha moment and thought wait, we have an electric fence for the horses, why not the dogs? With one Amazon purchase, and a few hours on a Saturday, I am so beyond happy to announce that Rango tested the fence once, and has respected it since. Not ONE escape since! Thank you, thank you, thank you! It is simply a communication tool, since I don't speak dog, and she now knows where our property boundaries are.

This is a great fence charger for home use. I have two tree hounds, one of them (Gunner) found out that he can jump my 6ft cedar board fence at the decorative gate that I built. For the price, you can't beat this fence charger. It's good and hot. Only took one wack for ol gun man to realize his unauthorized border crossings are a thing of the past. The unit is very simple for those that don't have much experience in electric fencing. The only downfall is that the charger is not water proof or weather resistant. That makes it a pain if you are installing it away from your home or barn, but it's an inexpensive system and you get what you pay for. I recommend making a little "birdhouse" for it to keep it dry. Make sure you have a solid ground stake and use insulated wire from the stake to the charger. Works great so far. I would recommend this unit to friends and family.

At first, I didn't think much of it. I had 300 feet of of cable and barely got a small tickle. I watched one of my dogs pee on the line and didn't flinch. I was about to return it for one that could take down a buffalo and decided to do some more research. After hours of research, grounding seemed to be the cause. I have this plugged into a single 8 foot deep ground which I thought was good enough. However, with the amount of sand in my yard it seems that it wasn't. I added a second ground rod, and tested the line again. It honestly felt like I stuck my finger in an electric socket, but the farther I moved away from the second ground the less zap you got until it was back to nothing at all. I added more grounds down the length of the fence and connected them back to the original 8 foot one. Usually a rod every 10 feet or so. Now it lights you up.. SO if you have the same issue where you don't feel the shock, check your grounding rod. You may also need more,
