I had been looking for a fast dependable flash drive to take the place of my Sandisk Cruzer Glide. I love large flash drives, and the 32Gb size is the norm for me. After my Sandisk Cruzer Glide started giving me the fits, (everytime I plugged it in to a USB port I would have to wiggle it back and forth to make a connection) I had all I could take of it! I researched and read reviews about the Patriot Memory Supersonic Boost XT 3.0. The reviews were right! Great transfer speeds on reading and writing. It took forever and a day to transfer movies, and games, (large files....average 2.2 Gb up to 7-9Gb files) on my Sandisk, sometimes upwards of a half an hour....ridiculous! The Patriot Supersonic Boost ended all of this....GREAT performance especially running it in a 3.0 port! It cut transfer times down to minutes....and the durability of the design of this is excellent. No more moving parts, (like on the Glide) also the rubberized outer cover adds to the protection of the flash drive. The size (width) is just right also, so if you want to plug in other USB devices in next too it...there is just the right amount of room, great for laptops. I would highly recommend it....it ended my Sandisk flash drive woes! :(

I use the flash drive daily and intensely. My files are mostly text, and some PowerPoints, with occasionally large image files. This is the only brand of flash drive that has never given me problems. My last Patriot drive I used for two years, error free. I only changed it to move up in size, but now I get a new drive every two years now, just because at some point the thing must die, no?
I must admit, I find the outside lettering and design childish and unprofessional (not quite mature tech male) so I put a binder clip over it and remove the clip's handles. Note that on one side is says "Patriot" in white letters rather discrete but visible, which is a little odd of you're not a flag waving Republican. My wife uses a flash drive a lot too (I've had problems with Dropbox and do not recommend it) so I bought her one. She said "wow, this looks military grade!" and has been using it happily too, but with no binder clip. She doesn't mind the outside design. They look completely out of place in both our work environments (humanities, educational) but they look rugged and serious, and they're completely reliable.
They are wider than usual drives, so if your USB ports are very close together you may not be able to use the port next to it. That's never been a problem for us. I've also always been afraid of losing the rubber cap, but I actually never have over the past years, although there have been some close calls. I still religious back up my active files in case I lose the drive or it breaks, but that has yet to happen over the years.

Blazing upload speeds for a $40 thumb drive!

Amazing upload speeds. When I set out to upload four massive Kontakt libraries to this drive tonight, I was expecting to see speeds maxing out in the 35-45MB/s range. I was astonished to find that the uploads occurred at an average upload speed of about 68MB/s with peaks exceeding 84MB/s. This is in a relatively old Shuttle XPC powered by an i7 2600K running at 3.8GHz, and downloaded from an old Samsung 500GB HDD spinning at 7200 RPM.. In two days I will be downloading the libraries onto a Eluktronics 1TB SSD in a computer running an i7 6700K OC'd to 4.6GHz. I can't wait to see what the transfer rate will be, but I'm expecting well over 150MB/s. At any rate, this is, by far, the fastest under $50 USB thumb drive I've ever used. I highly recommend this stick. Supersonic, indeed!

Edit: Did the downloads on Friday. The download speed to the Eluktronics SSD hovered around 160-165MB/s, usually with slow but quickly accelerating starts to stable speed (remember, these are all sequential files averaging about 30GB). Top download speed noted was 202MB/s (but it was achieving that only for a few seconds), but bursts in the 180MB/s range that lasted for over 30 seconds were very common. Additionally, I acquired a 256GB part over the weekend, and I saw similar upload speeds to it (again massive Kontakt libraries), from an 1TB SSD in a 4.6GHz 6700K box, although long duration upload speeds in excess of 60MB/s were more common.

Final thoughts: I am very impressed with the performance of these Patriot XT parts, but I ordered a Patriot Supersonic RAGE 128GB last night, and I'll compare the performance with the XT sometime next week.

This is my 2nd patriot. The design is perfection, it's reliable, and the performance amazing. The indicator light is in the right place at the right intensity. That's important if you use it frequently. and it won't slide off your desk onto the floor. It's not slippery, and it's the right size - not so tiny you need tweezers to handle it. I highly recommend this product. (I think I've tried almost every other brand). It's worthy of 5 starts +. It's worth every penny.
