It was something that FELT beautiful and dangerous at the same time, amazing and frightening.
Everything feels so real and natural in this story, even the fantastic elements
The descriptions are nice and vivid. I could see and imagine every scene that was written.
The touch of mystery is always welcome and appreciated in these stories, and you did a great job with the dreams and the jaguar.
I loved to hear both Hector's and Alma's perspective of their relationship and while I was reading it I looked for inconsistencies in the stories, but find none.
The style of writing is to be admired, since it completely puts the reader under a spell, so to speak, making them completely enchanted by the story.
Overall, it's an overwhelming story, well written and worth reading.
About the Author
Mark started his adult life with an honorable discharge from the Air Force followed by a degree in English. Along came a wife and a baby boy. Circumstances lead him to follow his own bent and not the one he studied. He feels he has tasted enough of the bitter and sweet of life to share his notion of life's essence in his writing. He has always been interested in the connections people have with each other and the world around them. History, humanities, art, philosophy, anthropology, world religions, and the natural world have been a fascination for him and a fountainhead for inspiration. He comes from a background of craftsmen and artists. He had to set his degree aside and take the path of a furniture and cabinet maker. He still pursued his academic interest and wrote a poem here and a short story there for his own amusement and to keep his hand in, so to speak. For many years, the real outlet for his creativity was his ability to create beautiful and unique furniture inspired by alchemy and the European Renaissance. I always wanted to use a unique and mysterious setting for a story. I am intrigued with the Amazon River and the people who have made it and the rain forest their home. The animatic religions of the area and the native idea that Amazonia is a single bio-entity, reinforces the theme of 'we are all one'. The connection the natives have with their surroundings and animals runs deep in their collective consciousness. The eagle, the anaconda and the jaguar are all important figures in the myths of creation. What better place for the characters to act out their emotions in this romantic thriller?
