I bought this after I purchased the Lenovo 90W Ultraslim AC/DC Combo Adapter and realized there was no adapter for my Carbon X1 Touch. This is actually my work laptop and I first tried to get the adapter through my office. The re-seller told my procurement staff that it was going to be expensive and asked if I still wanted a quote. I said yes and they told me it was $90.00 Not a typo. Ninety dollars. Crazy. This works great at a fraction of the price. I also like it better than the stubby adapter (also ordered) because the solid portion directly protruding from the side of the laptop (when plugged in) less lengthy overall, making it less likely to stress the port if accidentally hit.

Great if you want to use a recent thinkpad with an old PSU

Recent Lenovo thinkpads (like the X1, T440 or X240) have a different power connector. Instead of the round connector of the previous generations the latest thinkpads have a small rectangular plug. The voltages are the same.

Which is where this cable comes in. It has the rectangular plug of the new generation with a socket for the previous generations.

The actual cable is good quality. All the connectors are fit snugly and are nicely moulded onto the cable.

Very useful for reusing older power supplies and a lot cheaper than buying new ones.

Works perfectly!

Works perfectly with my new Thinkpad S1 Yoga and my son's Lenovo Yoga 2 11 and my older LENOVO 90W ULTRASLIM AC/DC COMBO ADAPTER which did not come with the new slim tip.
However after purchasing this item I now see that you can purchase a slim tip adapter (0B47048) http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd025643.
You can also purchase a complete new 90W Ultraslim AC/DC Combo Adapter which includes the 20V (0B47048) slim tip as well as the older 20V barrel tip. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd011138

Cheap, good and does the job

Like the Mac, the X1 keeps lit's slim profile by keeping the connectors thin. Hence the funky square connector. My feeling is, they just need to have all the laptops use the same connector and if that means obsoleting the round ones, so be it.

Anyway, because the X1 has the same power requirements but uses a different connector, you need one of these

They are cheap to buy, work as intended, and save me the hassle of getting power supplies that fit one model

NOTE!!! The X1 Carbon power supply is 90w If you have a x200, 201, 220, 230, the power supply is only 65w and will not power the X1. You need the 90w style with the larger connector. These power supplies were used on the following thinkpad laptops:

T60, T61, T400, T410, T420, T430, W500, W510. Note, the 170w power supplies that come with the W530, and the docks for the T430/W530 have a different connector and will not work.

This is one model here at Amazon, but it is not the only one.

Works with Lenovo G500s Touch

My universal laptop charger is several years old, and didn't come with a Lenovo "slim tip" connector. I ordered this online, and now I can plug it into my Lenovo 500s Touch and have an extra charger to keep at the office. It's not the prettiest solution, but it's better than buying a whole new charger.

If I am correct, this only changes the connector shape, not the voltage. So make sure that whatever power supply you are using with this tip outputs the correct voltage.

It is a simple device that does what it is supposed to do.

Slightly too large

Not to spec. While this technically fits into the power port of my Carbon X1, it is a very, very tight fit, so that I have to quite forcefully put it in. In contrast, the OEM adapter that came with the computer glides right in. I returned this one and will look for another on Amazon, as I'm not comfortable doing that on a regular basis. However, if you don't mind doing that, this is a good adapter.

I have a bunch of old-style Thinkpad power supplies, and use an X201 for work (which uses the old-style power supplies), so couldn't stomach the idea of buying a bunch of duplicates and putting them side-by-side with my existing power supplies. These adapters worked like a charm!

I haven't checked if I get the same charge speed, to be honest, but I haven't noticed any big difference.
