Paul Brian McCoy received his Master's in English from Marshall University in Huntington, WV and then spent the next ten years teaching composition. During that time he has become a prolific columnist and comic book, television, and film critic for Comics Bulletin (http://comicsbulletin.com) before this year launching a sister site, Psycho Drive-In (http://psychodrivein.com), where he is Editor-in-Chief/Publisher.
Upon realizing that his childhood dream of writing comics wasn't going anywhere without collaborators, he decided to strike out on his own and turn his original graphic novel idea into an actual novel, The Unraveling: Damaged Incorporated Book One, with more books in that series on the way.
He recently self-published a collection of short stories centering on characters and situations in the fictional town of Flannery, WV. The bulk of these stories were part of his Master's creative thesis that have been tinkered with and reworked. New for this collection are an additional five 100 word stories. Whereas The Unraveling was straight horror/sci-fi, Coffee, Sex, & Creation has a little bit of everything.
In 2013 he contributed the 1989 chapter in the American Comic Book Chronicles: The 1980s, and began publishing his Comics Bulletin column Mondo Marvel, which looks at the formation of the Marvel Superhero Universe issue-by-issue, in ebook format. Then earlier this year he contributed two chapters to Daytripper: A Life Examined, a collection of critical essays digging into the acclaimed graphic novel, Daytripper.
He currently lives and works in West Virginia, along with Dr. Girlfriend and their four cats, reading, writing, and drinking the finest beers West Virginia will allow.
