Fun album. I've really missed the Late Show band, and this reminds me why. Particularly noteworthy is "Why Can't We Live Together" sung by Darius Rucker. I've always loved Felicia Collins' voice too, and Anton Fig's drumming SKILLZ, so this was a big win for me. It really highlights the individual talents of all these band members. Paul's playing rocks! Oh how I miss my nightly dose of Dave!!!! Paul always brought in so many great musical greats, and it was the main way I stayed current with music. Now, I'm just kinda floundering. I really like this CD though. It has an overall feel that's a mix of 30s/40s/50s etc. Think "Big Band Era collides with 2017."
The swingin'-est musical cat that ever hit TV has returned with his awesome crew (plus Bill Murray and other guests). Inventive musings on classics as only he can do. I especially love Shaggy on the reggae "Cast Your Fate to the Wind".
Featuring collaborations with Shaggy, Jenny Lewis and Bill Murray (among others), these cats are swinging! I've missed Shaffer banging out the blues on keyboards and, wow, his "Why Can't We Live Together (w/ Darius Rucker) delivers. Terrific album.
I love Paul Shaffer and miss him every night at 11:30. Wonderful to hear his upbeat , uplifting music. He belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Nobody does what he does.
On one hand, it brings back memories of the music on Letterman. On the other hand, it stands on its own as songs you can enjoy over and over. Highly recommended.
