Fun heart-fulfilling contemporary romance. Loved it so much. A bit of humor and a hero that continues to surprise himself with his increasing feelings for the heroine. An adorable couple.
First in a new series. I can't wait for more. Love the emotional grip.
Dogs, a shelter, and family pets are keys in this series above the romance.
Two short excerpts that self describe the heroine and hero as well as giving you a taste of the writing rhythm.
Excerpt from the heroine's point of view:
"I'm sure it's over. The man is blind to anything that doesn't have dollar signs on it." Including a woman without money, sophistication or a body that would rock his world. A woman like Bev: simple, ordinary and invisible.”
Excerpt From: Rowe, Stephanie. “Paws for a Kiss (Canine Cupids, Book 1
Excerpt from the hero's point of view:
“Three long days later, Mack had been almost successful in keeping his resolve. He hadn't thought about Bev at all, except when he looked at his dog. Or any other dog. Actually, he thought about her whenever he saw any domestic animal. And whenever he saw Whittle's name on a document. Or heard Whittle's name. Or saw an old junker of a car. Or the time he'd passed a florist and had wanted to stop and buy her flowers. Or when he saw that stuffed puppy dog in the window of the toy store and had been on his way into the store to buy it for her. But that wasn't all the time, so he was pleased with himself. Sort of.”
Excerpt From: Rowe, Stephanie. “Paws for a Kiss (Canine Cupids
Beverly Ryan, heroine, has a self esteem problem despite being beautiful and having a great body. She prefers being with her animals at her shelter,”Give A Dog A Bone.” She works 2 jobs to keep things afloat. She rescues the unsavable!! She is saving every dime to buy the building which shelters her business.
Mack Spencer, hot shot, tycoon has a client interested in the building. Mack has dark hair, crystal blue eyes, and built like Adonis. He always wears suits right out of GQ. Sigh. He works 90 hour weeks. He hasn’t recovered from the death of his sister.
Bev wears overalls and sneakers. And lives every moment to the fullest.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the involvement of the dogs. I have not read this author before and was enchanted with this first book. The characters are absolutely wonderful; realistic and down to earth. Being bit repeatedly by the same bad mannered dog cracked me up. The Development of the characters is rich and deep. It was wonderful.
The plot was very interesting with twists and turns.
It was a lovely HEA and I totally recommend it to romance readers.
So what you get is a self conscious, kinda shy yet wants to be more assertive leading lady. With a very confident, driven male lead. She owns a dog shelter for the "unadoptables" that would not of had a chance of adoption at a kennel. She is just getting started with cats so there are a few of them too. He gets paid to find the right property for rich people. It's not personal it's just business. That's his motto.
There are some funny things that happen and a few tug of the heart strings, overall it's a really decent read. Nothing extremely special, yet nothing that was horrible. Just basic. Instant connection, yet still reluctant to be together. I liked the characters, the dogs were a good touch. Though one definitely needs help. Same with the people characters one was way not all together. I'd like to know more about the other characters.
