Must Read - Payment Domain Essentials
ByBuzz Kon August 4, 2017
Format: Paperback
I have been in electronic payments for my entire 30+ year business career and am often enlisted to educate colleagues and partners about the payments world. I regularly suggest they get this book as it is an excellent primer and then some for anyone needing to get up to speed on the payments domain. We also regularly hire the Glenbrook team to come on site to conduct training sessions.
Excellent Resource.
ByEdward J. BartonVINE VOICEon September 2, 2012
This well written summary by two industry veterans will take the novice or experienced member of the payment systems industry through a comprehensive and easy to understand summary of the workings of the US payment system.

Beginning with some history and overview, the authors cover the landscape from checks and cash to debit and credit cards, ACH and wires. Discussing in some level of detail the process, players and issues found in each payment medium, the reading is extraordinarily easy to understand and will provide the reader with up to date information and a great picture of the current state of the payments industry.

A must read for anyone in banking and transactional finance, or in card or business banking operations, and probably a good resource for the student as well.

About the Author

Carol Coye Benson's practice at Glenbrook focuses on mobile payments, national infrastructures, and emerging technologies for financial services. Before founding Glenbrook Partners, Carol was a managing director of the Global Institutional Services division of Deutsche Bank, leading marketing, client online services, and Internet development. At Visa International, she led groups working on eCommerce card security, database marketing, and technology investments. Also with Visa International, Carol founded and managed a European product development office, where she managed a series of eCommerce and chip card projects for banks across Europe. Earlier, Carol spent twelve years with Citibank, where she managed the development and market introduction of new commercial payments products. Carol began her career as a corporate lending officer for large multinationals at both Bank of America and Citibank.

Scott Loftesness works with major clients as well as financial services startups and investors, helping with the refinement of business models, approaches to technical design, and go-to-market strategies. With over 45 years of experience in information technology - as a technologist, senior executive, board member, venture investor, consultant, advisor, and mentor - Scott brings a unique business and technology perspective to his work with Glenbrook. Earlier in his career, Scott was group executive vice president at First Data Merchant Services. Scott also served as group executive vice president at Visa International, where he led the development of Visa's global payment systems strategies, including Visa's research and development initiatives related to card payments, eCommerce payments and advanced card technologies. Scott began his career as a systems engineer with IBM in San Francisco.

Russ Jones offers clients over 30 years of experience as an executive, analyst, and consultant. He is an industry pioneer in the commercial use of Internet technologies, and brings a strong background in payments industry analysis, strategy development, and product conceptualization. With Glenbrook, Russ currently works with clients in development of global payments strategies and fintech opportunity assessment. Before joining Glenbrook, Russ was a general partner with The NuVantage Group, an innovation-to-market consulting group, where his clients included CommerceNet and the Financial Services Technology Consortium. Earlier, Russ served as director of emerging technologies for Digital Equipment's corporate research group in Palo Alto. In addition to his work as a consultant, Russ manages Glenbrook's Payments Boot Camp program. --This text refers to the paperback edition.
