About the Author

Candice C. Carter is Professor at the University of North Florida (UNF). Her research and scholarship topics include: conflict transformation, peacebuilding, peace education, peace through arts, history/social studies instruction, and teacher training. She serves in many international, national, and local peace, education, research, and policy organizations. Dr. Carter designs and facilitates peace education programs in all levels of education, including the interdisciplinary Conflict Transformation Program at the UNF. She is the editor of the Journal of Stellar Peacemaking and an editorial board member of the Journal of Peace Education, as well as the journal Global Peace.

Ravindra Kumar is an independent scholar, political scientist, peace-worker, and educator whose more than 100 works analyze personalities of the Indian Sub-continent, including Gautama Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, as well as a number of social, religious, political, historical, educational, and cultural issues. As a renowned Indologist and Former Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kumar has been associated in several countries with national and international academic, cultural, educational, social, and peace institutions delivering over 400 lectures on subjects related to Asian values, civilization, culture, history, cooperation, Gandhism, human rights, Indian way of life, international understanding, and world peace. He is the editor of the international journal Global Peace. Besides the Shan-i-Kaum, Ambassador of Peace, Shantidoot, Master of Wisdom, and other honors, the Padma Shri was awarded by the President of India to Dr. Kumar for his noteworthy service as a scholar and educator.
