"Peace after Divorce: Choosing Concrete Actions Rooted in Faith" is the perfect solution for a divorcee or someone in the process of who seeks their experience through a Christian perspective. While the authors offer a workshop, I feel as though this book is ideal for someone who can self-reflect through reading and has a knack for journaling. The foundation is how to renew yourself after divorce and how to learn self-acceptance through the eyes of God. There are a myriad of examples and prompts to help with this analysis, such as creating a timeline of memories with your former spouse regarding which had a positive impact and those with a negative. Many of the questions and activities will require time and extensive introspection, so it's not an overnight type of solution. Many sections contain ideas for prayer, which many will find very helpful. The authors open you to invite your humble self to analyze your past patterns and habits and how to focus on things you have control over and how to use your energy most positively. They directly lay out what works and doesn't work through this process and are honest with the difficulties that lie ahead in the transition to life as a single person. The book is particularly helpful regarding how to work through grief and loneliness and how to let go of blame and to forgive. The book will leave you wanting to change the way you think and move into the journey of dating after divorce- when you are ready.

This book was written by a counselor to give adults ideas on how to help get resolution after their divorce. For being a short book, it has different areas for parents to reference for assistance. This book is written by a Christian author so I also enjoyed the biblical references as well. I have read another book about divorce from this author (focused on helping the children cope) and it was much shorter but it was just as good. This book is not something that you should just fly through. It is in stages for you to go through slowly as you experience it. The peace will not come in one day just as you should not get through this book in one day when you are actually experiencing divorce. This book has different sections on how to handle different situations (dealing with the spouses, making changes, getting ready to move on, and etc. I would recommend this book to anyone who is getting a divorce and is looking to recover from it and everything that it has done.

If you aren't the party that wanted the divorce, sometimes it can feel like it is worse in some ways, but if you did want the divorce, you probably thought you could make your life better. This book is about finding ways to do that.

Coping. Sometimes that means we just get by each day and do what we have to do. This book helps you learn how to rely on your own strength and the power of God's love to cope. and maybe someday do more than cope. Meaning, start to really live again. Each chapter has a concept and ends with questions to help you make the most of the concept on your own. It gives you things to reflect and pray on. Step by step you can learn that what happened in the past does not have to dictate what happens in your future, and you can make your future great.

I bought this book hoping to help a friend who is going through a divorce. While I believe that marriages should never just end without doing everything possible to try to save it, I do understand that there are times when no matter what you do, the marriage is just over.
This book has much more content than I expected. It is written using Biblical insight to help those going through a divorce, reminding the reader of the unwavering love of our Creator and Heavenly Father. It's nice to be reminded of this because I believe that people tend to forget there is hope during these difficult months/years.
This book is set up like a workbook. It is not a book that the reader will pick up and finish in a day. The author suggests reading no more than one chapter a week. There are many questions to ponder in each chapter. To gain the most insight, the reader should read and answer the questions to really understand how they are feeling and how they are coping with the loss of their marriage. Then it gives great insight on how to change behaviors by the way you transform your thinking. At the end of each chapter, it lists the highlights so that you can go back over everything and really let it sink in. If you live in a community where there are no divorce support groups, then this book contains invaluable advice. If you can attend a divorce support group, I think that this can still be very helpful as it will give you a head's up on what to expect and how to avoid potential downfalls, especially when it comes to setting boundaries, dealing with children, and learning whether or not to get into another relationship. But most of all, this book reminds us that God loves us and He will always love us and want what's best for us. We need not be afraid to go to Him in these darkest times where we feel like failures.

This book does exactly what it promises to by leading the reader to choose concrete actions based in faith. I would recommend this book to anyone who has gone through a divorce and has any level of faith in a supreme maker. I have never experienced a divorce, but I majored in family relations and human development in college and extensively studied divorces and the impacts they have on the divorcees and their families. With that said, I felt that this book gracefully walks struggling divorcees through the recovery stage of post-divorce life. This book has the setup of a workbook and it is intended that readers take the exercises at their own pace, moving along only as they feel ready. Each chapter contains deep questions for the reader to ponder and reflect on. By the end of the book, the author’s hope is that the reader will feel more at peace with his or her self and situation in life. I believe that this is possible for all readers to take the teachings of this book to heart as they take action towards feeling better about their life.
