Book 2 Well Peaches is up to her old tricks. She doesn't pull any punches. She does finally reveal her secret, which I did not see coming. I do pretty good at figuring things out early in a book. So I give Mimi Strong for surprising me, it does not happen often. Mimi Strong has a way of writing characters you either love or hate. I love Peaches and hate Dalton. Peaches is trying to protect her heart and sometimes jumps to conclusions before getting the whole story. Dalton is not very forthcoming he is to sneaky for me. Peaches is sassy, scared and lovable. She has her insecurities that she does not know how to deal with sometimes. Mimi Strong knows how to write Peaches in a believable light of a big girl. If Mimi Strong fan, then I think you will like this series. In my opinion I think it is worth reading.
Book 3 I really liked Peaches in Stardust and Starlight, I did not like her so much in Starfire. I did not like how she uses men to fill a void in her life. With that said she did redeem herself in the end. What I do like about Peaches is she has no filter on her mouth. She is hysterical, also her feelings about herself we all have been there. Now for Dalton I never liked him, I never trusted him. Yet I loved this series and the journey that Peaches travels. Mimi Strong did a great job of surprising me, keeping me laughing and turning the pages. I could not wait to see what Peaches was going to do next. Mimi Strong made Peaches life and struggles very believable. Throw in hot, steamy and sensual sex, in my opinion you have a winner.
I don't think I'd classify these books as "erotic." Rather I'd say they were graphic romance.
While the characters were fun, they got a bit old after a while. After a while their nicknames for their body parts got ridiculously stupid and I wasn't sure whether I was reading about 7th grade boys or two adults.
The constant romantic triangle was a challenge, and I had a really hard time believing that the couple who ended up together really belonged together and would make it the long haul. Where Peaches Monroe became less interesting as the books went on, Adrian and Dalton became more interesting.
Overall, I enjoyed the books but the female character got on my nerves after awhile. I got sick of her calling herself fat and all the fat jokes when it seems clear that she couldn't really be "fat" but maybe a size 12 or 14 instead of a size 6.
One thing I will say very positive about this book is the hidden secret that Peaches had. If the author had explored that a little more, I think the author could've had more than just a so-so romance novel. She had a really interesting and unique idea that needed to be fleshed out more.
Overall, I'd say that this is definitely a book you should consider if you can get it for free, but it's not one that I would pay for a 2nd time. And I'm kinda mad I paid for it the first time when I've just realized I could've purchased them individually for "free."
Peaches is funny and getting lots of sex with quite a few characters throughout the book. That's not to say she is a slut bag but her life changes direction from her normal bookstore job and she's is on a new adventure. Plus she is a real woman and not one of those stick thin models.... Anyway, there is a twist in it I didn't see and the ending went how I wanted it to, although at some point I didn't think it was going to go that route..... Mimi is awesome I love her books.
This is a breath of fresh air and you will fall in love with Peaches, if you just give her a chance and step in her shoes. Oh and the sex scenes are pretty awesome too ;-)
