2.0 out of 5 stars Great concept, poor execution. Company also tried to silence my review.
By JonG on October 23, 2017
Originally I tried to post this review to Peak Design's website. However, they never approved it for display, and later admitted via email that "our team decided not to post it live," and instead offered me a refund. I'm guessing they don't want you to see what I have to say about this product...

The original version of the Cuff is better. Here are my thoughts:

- Both this cuff and the original succeed as a camera wrist strap for use on the go. Once one end is attached to your wrist, and the other to the camera, your camera is *not* going anywhere.

- Unfortunately, the new cuff design falls apart once you detach your camera (e.g. to place it on a tripod, or tabletop). The "bracelet" configuration of this revised design just doesn't work because the magnetic connection isn't strong enough to secure the anchor housing, even after adjustment and it comes apart within seconds and begins flapping around. At that point I just take it off completely. The old design uses a second anchor to attach the free end of the bracelet, which once in place, never comes apart, even if it is slightly awkward to attach.

- The new version of the cuff is noticeably heavier than its predecessor on account of several metal parts that weren't present in the original.

- This cuff seems to be made for users with moderately large wrists - the magnet has limited freedom to be repositioned for smaller wrists. My wrists have a circumference of 6.5 inches, and I had to place the magnet at the far end of the pouch that encloses it to even get the anchor housing to line up with it when wrapped around my wrist as a bracelet. Even after this adjustment, the magnet just isn't strong enough to hold.

Peak design needs to redesign this - perhaps 3rd time will be a charm? It's not up to the level of their other products, so I'm not sure why the other reviews are raving about it - perhaps those reviewers only used it casually for a few minutes before giving a rating.

Given how the company tried to silence my review, I can confidently say that I've bought my last Peak Design product.

5.0 out of 5 stars All it's cracked up to be and more.
By oakie on August 27, 2017
Update: I originally stated there should be more magnets to accommodate more wrist sizes but I recently learned the magnet is movable. If you pinch ahead or behind the magnet like you would a tube of toothpaste, the magnet will inch along to customize for your wrist size. Genius!

It just arrived yesterday and I've had about 12 hours to attach it to my camera and wrap it around my wrist. Truly a great product that takes a universal design and makes it better through execution. Just a simple magnet in the strap allows it to be folded over itself to create a bracelet. Considerate design makes it passable in that regard. What makes it truly work are the Anchor links that make attachment and removal a one-handed affair. It may seem gimmicky up front but the convenience of being able to wear this on my wrist and able to clip in to my camera whenever I pull it from my bag will be a huge convenience, especially while on vacation; I can keep my camera in its bag more often rather than in my hand.

The only fault is there should be a fabric or plastic cover for the metal plate on the back of the buckle to prevent scratching my camera body while clipped in.

A wrist lanyard may be a $10 accessory but the utility built into this design truly elevates it, building value in its selling price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs A Slight Modification To Make It Perfect.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 26, 2020
I really like Peak Design gear. I now own a Slide and two of these Cuffs, one for me and the other for my Wife to attach to our DSLRs. I really like the quick release anchors which stay on the camera so other PD straps can be fitted and removed easily. My Wife's Cuff is perfect for her but mine wasn't until I modified it. I haven't got particularly large wrists but I find that if I let my camera hang from the Cuff, the "Auto Cinch" feature tightened uncomfortably on my wrist and I had to use my other hand to release it, which isn't easy. Huge kudos to Peak Design though when I contacted them about this issue. I sent photographs etc. to show what I meant and they even sent me a replacement. Unfortunately however I don't think the issue has been resolved. For people with small wrists there won't be a problem as the Cuff is stopped from tightening up when the (depending on which version you have) leather or synthetic panel meets the metal buckle. To cure this I asked my Wife to run a row of stitches with her sewing machine across the strap to prevent it from over-tightening. This has cured the problem for me and the Cuff is now a pleasure to use. I think if Peak Design added an adjustable clip to the Cuff it would suit people with different wrist sizes better.
