This is a famous brand in China, and I'm glad to find it here in the States, you can get it at most Asian grocery stores. The dark soy sauce is best when used to slow cook/red cook any kind of meats to add that intense dark color and aged flavor. The mushroom flavored one adds even more good flavor to your dish.

Don't use it with your salad or as un-cooked flavor aid! For these, you have to use the "Sheng Chou" -the light soy sauce, which is aged less and optimized as a dressing, say when you mix your dumpling sauce or putting it on top of your freshly seasoned tofu.

Excellent Soy Sauce!
Not too watery, not too think like gravy, it's just right.
Color is dark brown, very dark looks black in the bottle but is really brown when mixed with meat, vegetables, or gravies and sauces.
Flavor is excellent. Flavor strength right out of bottle is strong. Added to other material can be adjusted to your liking.
Main flavor is fermented soy beans, secondary flavor is light mushroom, followed by a hint of vinegar. The total flavor body is complex.
It's much more gentle on your taste buds than either Kikkoman or Shoyu.
I use it in meat stir fry and fried rice, as a beef and or pork marinade, even on salads and sea food, and where I've traditionally used Worcestershire sauce
I use it in gravies as a darkener and flavor enhancer.
1 complaint, if it IS a complaint, is that it could have a little bit more mushroom flavor.
I guess I call it "an all purpose seasoning".

I had been looking for mushroom flavored soy sauce for quite some time. I stumbled across this at an Oriental import shop in Denver and bought a bottle. I am very happy to find it on Amazon as I won't have to drive to Denver to buy it now. It is delicious stuff and not just for Chinese cooking. I like to use it in cooking meats and making gravy. Like another commenter noted, it doesn't take much to give great flavor. It has been an asset to everything I've used it for.

Dark soy sauce (also know as sweet soy sauce) is a must for fried rice and a great addition to many other oriental dishes. I thought I ordered the plain but got mushroom flavored (my fault, not seller) and glad I made the error. The mushroom flavor is delicate and only adds to an otherwise great sauce.

Rich, brown caramel, umami flavors. It has no ordinary mushroom flavor, although it does have some almost sour dried shiitake flavor. This is better than supermarket soy sauce, but I prefer Koon Chun Double Black soy sauce (Koon Chun Double Black Soy Sauce) which is less salty taste-wise and based on the nutrition label statements.

Update: I have really grown to like this stuff, and it is now my favorite. Since it is stronger than supermarket soy sauce, I can use less. Rating increased to 5 stars.

Has a much better flavor than regular soy sauce. Much deeper and not just salt on your palate. The only con I have is the pouring cap. It allows a small amount to pool in the cap then leak out, this stuff is a mess unless it is in the bottle or on your food!

This is the soy sauce that I knew when I was growing up. Much more flavorful than your typical soy sauce, so you don't need to use quite as much to imbue dishes with its unique flavor.

It's a premium brand in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, which underscores its popularity and quality.
