The legendary fit, performance, durability and comfort of this classic style is further optimized with In-R-Cool technology and fast-drying Transfer Minerale technology
The men's P.R.O. In-R-Cool shorts from Pearl Izumi combine an anatomic fit with the addition of In-R-Cool and fast-drying Transfer Minerale technology to keep you cool, dry, and odor-free on intense rides. The shorts are constructed with P.R.O. Transfer fabric that goes above and beyond the moisture transfer performance that Pearl Izumi is already known for. The shorts reflect sun light away for high-level UV protection that doesn't add bulk to the shorts and the Minerale Technology dries extremely quickly to maximize evaporative cooling. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line P.R.O. 4D Chamois provides a seamless fit in the saddle. Additional details include silicone leg grippers with welded construction and reflective elements for low-light visibility. Built to last, the P.R.O. In-R-Cool shorts carry a lifetime warranty from Pearl Izumi against defects in materials and workmanship.
Designed for advanced riders and racers, the P.R.O. Seamless 4D Chamois is pre-shaped and curved to the natural anatomic shape of the rider for the highest level of comfort. The chamois is built with seamless and breathable four-way stretch technology so that it will adjust to fit your specific anatomy and wick moisture away from the skin. Pressure Relief Technology (PRT) is built in to optimize riding comfort, blood flow, and overall performance, while active carbon yarns improve thermo-regulation and eliminate static induced fatigue.

Overall the shorts fit comfortably and are very supportive. The padding initially felt pretty stiff, but has "loosened up" with several rides and washes. At first the outer edge of the pad was rubbing or putting some pressure on the inner aspect of my thigh. That has gotten better/resolved. The waistband is thick, but not too tight for my middle aged "muffin top" and the top does not roll over either. These shorts are a little longer than my Bontragers and sometimes rub near the back of my knees. This is easily corrected by sliding the legs of the shorts up just a bit where the material isn't fully stretched. This is a problem not likely encounter by the average person. I'm short and stubby, 5"7" with a long torso and short legs (barely a 30" inseam). On our two day ride, I was able to wash the shorts in the hotel sink, use a bath towel to "roll out" most of the water and hung to dry...ready to go the next morning. I was pleased enough with the shorts to buy my wife the women's version of the same shorts. She tried them on one time and said "they look funny" (because of the bulkier pad) and refused to even try them on the bike. Please note I love my wife, but she is more fashion conscious and I'm more comfort conscious!
Pros: Comfortable fit, waistband doesn't roll away from my "muffin top", excellent support around the thighs. Great anatomically shaped pad. Dries fast for multiday rides.
Cons: Pad feels pretty stiff for several rides. Legs are a little long (only a problem if you're stubby like me). A bit pricey (but worth it in my book)
I wear a size 32 and not a size old navy 32 thats actually a 36 a actual 32 and these fit great. I heard foam pads feel better then gel over a long period of time and honestly couldn't tell you if thats true as I only went on two bike rides and never wore the gel shorts but I am going to assume that statement is correct and I made the right choice.
The bike ride itself was awesome and I probably would not do it again mainly due to the fact it took me 12 hours of travel to get to lake Tahao. Also I was the only guy on the ride that didnt have clip on shoes, figured I didn't have time to learn how to get them on-off with out falling and just used the toe cages my Giant came with. So good news these shorts dont care if you dont have egg beaters. Also compared to wearing cargo shorts, putting these on make you "look" like a cyclist and people driving in their car or walkers seeing you ride by will probably think "oh those are tight shorts, that dudes a serious rider". People who ride bikes with cargo shorts on (adults that is) people in cars and walkers seeing you ride by probably think ( that guys riding a bike in cargo shorts, he probably had a DUI)
One note of caution: They are very tight. If you are uncomfortable with that, or not "height-weight proportional", buy a size up.
