Prince Frederick beats the princess and her mother enjoys seeing her daughter suffer. Clare, Charles, and Sarah devise a plan to escape, Clare knows she could not marry the Prince and what use would a dead queen be? She ends up being captured by the savages and is carried away by Bracus who is in charge. She meets others on the outside such as Matthew, Joseph, Phillip, Anna, etc. She discovers that she he is considered one of the "select". Of course we have Charles, the Queen and her men as well as the Prince and his guards who leave the sphere and go to the outside in search of their princess, all for different reasons. There is so much adventure in this book and so, so much more to tell. I truly hope you decide to read this book. You will not want to put it down when you start. You will be shocked, amazed, in awe, excited and so many more feelings. One of the best books I have read in a while.
America suffers a dark gloomy apocalyptic event which tosses them into the past of their own history mixed with micro splashes of the future. Citizens dwell in spheres created one hundred forty years prior, designed to protect them from the fatal results of the cataclysmic events that occured.
Society has reverted to medieval times with Kings, Queens, and a high court. Clara, princess and royalty faces torment and abuse everyday. With arranged marriages, she is to be forced to marry a tyrant who physcially tortures and threatens to do worse, all while her mother watches and approves.
With the help of her closest friends as well as citizens who hope for a better future, she escapes the sphere, only to be taken by savages.
Clara faces danger and fear of the unknown when she discovers the outside was so much more than what they were taught all their lives. Secrets reveal themselves like petals of a flower slowly opening.
With newly opened eyes and heart, Clara discovers that the outside people are not savages afterall and her traumatic experience was really a blessing in disguise.
I have to say that I downloaded this book on my kindle app, only because it was free at the time. That was four years ago. I really wish I had read it sooner because I didn’t want to stop. My heart went out to Clara and the abuse and torment she endured. Now there are several books in this series and I can’t wait to get my hands on book two.
I recommend this dark paranormal fantasy to anyone who is interested is something unique and out of the norm.
Will definitely be adding Tamara Rose Blodgett to my favorite author’s list.
I'm not really sure where I want to begin with this book. I went in thinking, but most likely hoping, that it was going to be a great read. I have stopped at the half way point and just cannot force myself to continue. I'll start with what I didn't like.
I didn't like the random flash backs, they were really just tossed in there and had no relevance to anything at all.
How it would switch from one persons point of view to another's without warning, the first few times this happened I was completely confused. I swear there was one page where it switched to at least three different character point of views and I had no clue what was going on at all.
Most of the characters I hated, that and there was just way to many names thrown at you. It would always take me a minute to remember who this person was, and what they had to even do with what was going on.
I swear if I read the word savage again I really just might scream.
What I liked:
I liked Clara, I really did. For what she had to go through she was really strong. She is mainly the reason I read the book for as long as I did before giving up.
I did like that at the start of /NEW/ chapters it would give you someone else's point of view, this is not to be confused with the switching thing that was going on all over the place that I hated. I always like a book that doesn't just stick with one persons story so you can get to like the other people more.
Because I didn't read the entire book I felt it only fair to give a three star rating. Others out there may really like it. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
