The Peavey Rockmaster Bass Guitar is a very low line product by Peavey, it offers a solution to people who want to try their hands at an instrument. This particular guitar actually plays pretty well and sounds decent as well (with a catch). However, it is not grounded very well and has a terrible buzzing sound to it. It can be very distracting, but reduced as long as you are touching the strings all the time to add your self as a ground. Its not a bad guitar to start out on or if you just want something simple that is not too expensive.

Can't beat it for the price. Be aware that this is a short scale bass (piccolo). I didn't know that at the time.

She's become one of my favorite basses and I have a lot of them. I stayed away from P style basses (nut width) but this one has a great neck and some serious thump. Tuners seem decent and overall very happy with the purchase. Thought of buying another one but considered it excessive.

One note, given the short scale the E string is a bit flabby and not responsive enough for slapping. If you're a rock and heavy metal dude the E string might have appeal as it's less tense and has a much lower feel.

For a big box bass this thing is killer. Any child starting out and their parents should consider this. In addition, Peavey has some of the best customer support that I've dealt with.

A pickups problem, Peavey does not have a good quality control system... One of the pickups was loose inside the shell and the guitar had a small crack on the paint near the 2nd pickup... I had to take it to guitar center to get put the pickup together.- Amazon has excellent service as they pay a % of the repair.. Bass Guitar is excellent after this small problem.-

The Peavey Rockmaster Bass is a solid entry level bass, you are pretty much getting exactly what you paid for. No gem in the rough here, just a plain vanilla bass that will allow you to learn how to play, or decide if a bass is right for you. Once you have the basics of playing down you'll want to move up to more capable instrument, but by that time you should have a better idea of what you want as well.

There are a few things you can do to get the most out of the bass.

First off is changing the strings as this can make all the difference in the world in both the feel of playing the bass and the sound of the bass as well. But unless you know how to properly fit different sized strings (such as enlarging the string grooves in the nut), you'd be well advised to stick with the same size the bass came with - Extra Light, 40-60-75-95, such as Hartke HSB440 XLight Bass Strings (4-String Set).

Well I ordered this bass guitar as a beginner although I have played lead guitar for 5 years or so, Im not new to guitars. With that said, I can say that this guitar needed to be setup to be playable by anyone after I got it. It was packed pretty decent. The strings on the guitar were shipped loose and wrapped as they should be. It was double boxed and arrived in a short time. Upon opening I noticed one of the pickups was loose and had fallen inside the guitar and sure enough when plugged in was too weak to even tune it because it was so far from the strings. This is a quality problem with Peavey. I took it apart and re-glued it back on the outer pickup housing and adjusted the pickup height and fixed it myself. Really not too big a deal. Adjusted the truss rod because of fret buzzing and it now plays pretty well...not too bad a tone for a cheap guitar! It will most certainly do what I wanted it for...which is to practice and learn bass guitar. The pickups are probably the cheapest part of this guitar. Not very good quality, but will do for my needs. This guitar is not for gigging or on stage use, only practice and learning. It will for sure need to be setup to be playable and if you dont know how then a pro can do this for around $100 at a music store. Hope this helps someone.

For the price is works. Ok. Bought for rocksmith and it works but have to have both volume and tone pegged to register in the game and because of that there is some slight hum and feedback but again for the price I paid and only using for a game I am ok with it. If you plan on being series and possibly use on gigs I would look at something better.
