Being writen more than 40 years ago, this isn't a book of education, This book is in fact, a handbook of how to produce criminals, marxists and incompetents in schools.
This book has other these terrible defects:
1- The main source of ideas for this book was the Satanist Karl Marx(1818 – 1883). Then comes others Satanists and Marxists: Lenin(1870-1924), Fidel Castro, Frantz Omar Fanon (1925 – 1961), etc. In simple words, this book was made to deceive their readers, not to inform none of them. The correct title itself would be: "How to produce criminals, marxists and incompetents in schools", not Pedagogia del oprimido.
2- This trash book ignores all the traditional touchstones of Western education ( Socrates, Friedrich Schiller, John Dewey, Maria Montessori, Jerome Bruner, etc.).
3- There's almost nothing about curriculum, testing, or age-appropriate learning, iin this trash-book.
4- In any place where the terrible ideas of this trash-book was followed terrible things hapened: poverty, corruption, crimes became widespread. Honduras, Venezuela, Brazil, etc. are the countries with the most terrible levels of misery, crimes and corruption because their bad educations systems followed the terrible ideas of this trash-book. In countries where this book had outlawed aplications and correct pedagogies were placed, came development and prosperity: South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, etc.
In fact, about this trash-book, the Jew Sol Stern wrote, on the City Journal, Spring 2009, Vol. 19, no. 2, these sentences:
"The odd thing is that Freire’s magnum opus isn’t, in the end, about education—certainly not the education of children. Pedagogy of the Oppressed mentions none of the issues that troubled education reformers throughout the twentieth century: testing, standards, curriculum, the role of parents, how to organize schools, what subjects should be taught in various grades, how best to train teachers, the most effective way of teaching disadvantaged students. This ed-school bestseller is, instead, a utopian political tract calling for the overthrow of capitalist hegemony and the creation of classless societies. Teachers who adopt its pernicious ideas risk harming their students—and ironically, their most disadvantaged students will suffer the most."
