Pediasure is VERY sweet, so we usually mix it up half & half with his milk. His favorite flavor is definitely the chocolate.
Our typical 2 1/2 year old likes this mixed in her milk, too. She only gets it every now and then, but I just wanted to note that she likes the taste.
I have a VERY picky eater, VEEEERY. This much sugar would change her behavior, morphing her into a hyper mess and she would sleep horribly. She was at the bottom 5% for height and weight, and I got a sample of PediaSure from her previous pediatrician's office. I read the contents and tasted it myself, it tastes like a fake vanilla milkshake that is overly sweet with a faint chemical aftertaste. I did not give it to my daughter and sought to make a better version of the idea behind it -- quick nutrition for a kiddo who only eats a handful of things. So I started making her breakfast/snack smoothies using organic whey protein, milk, her favorite fruits and a tsp. of coconut oil or pure almond oil. She has grown about 2 inches in 8 months.
This PediaSure is expensive per serving, it is $1.50 (without the milk!) and has a ton of cheap corn and fake nutrition. There is an easy way to make REAL food for your very picky child:
I buy natural unflavored Jarrow whey protein (80+ toddlers servings for $16.55 on sub&save), organic fruits (seasonal is cheapest), organic milk, Stevita flavor drops (one tiny bottle has 100 servings for about $5), coconut oil is easy to find these days (32 oz organic for $12 on S&S and has 192 tsp.Read more ›
I use this judiciously with my 2 small children. It was recommended to us by a couple of pediatricians to help with growth, they were both below 25th percentile & dropping despite being well rounded eaters. Two years later, they are now around the 50th percentile. I mix 1/4 bottle of pediasure in 8 oz milk & they love it, definitely a life saver.
When my son was 2, he got norovirus, this kept us from a narrowly missed hospital admission...
Would definitely recommend if the situation merits it...
In terms of how I use it, I put 1.5 cups of milk, add 1/2 banana, some dates and 2tsp of the powder. And blend everything. It comes out very tasty and my toddler drinks up more than 1/2 cup during her breakfast and then I pack the rest for her school and she drinks it during her morning snack time.
I avoid giving her at evening or night as it is a little heavy and also I read that there is a ingredient 'Corn Maltodextrin'. This ingredient makes the kid to be very active after drinking the PediaSure shake. So I do not add more than 2 tsp and give her only in the morning.

I wish I could give this negative stars. This product does NOT taste like the bottled. My kids kept saying it tasted like "cookies" that they don't like. Read morePublished 11 days ago by CT Mom
