Hi, my name is Peggy Tharpe...I grew up in the USA and learned Spanish and French as a child, kickstarting my lifelong interest in languages and language learning.
With a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in TESOL, I set off to travel the world and teach EFL to children everywhere. Life had other plans though, and I settled down in New Mexico USA to raise a family. There I worked with Saudi trainees for a petrochemical training company, and ESL children K-6. I was an ESL resource teacher and eventually an Instructional Coach for ESL and classroom teachers.
I've taught ESL and EFL in New Mexico, Arizona, Mexico, Italy, and Switzerland. I've taught adult refugees, and business professionals, and spent the last 10 years teaching pronunciation and accent reduction to Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Brazilian and Taiwanese grad students, business managers and diplomats.
Here's what people are saying about my e-guides:
"I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. Honestly. I think you've taken apart "pronunciation physics" and made it accessible to a wider audience. I really loved the way it was written. I felt like you were chatting with me over tea or a beer, yet still being talked to as a professional. I appreciate that type of respect from a scholarly author, rather than pretension (which happens too often, in my humble opinion.)"
"Really amazing method!"
""This is EXACTLY what I wanted to know. Right to the point! Just what I needed, and for once, I didn't have to wade through a lot of other stuff to get it."
These days, I present at conferences, give webinar and teacher trainings, hold private classes with clients around the world, write e-guides, and am creating an online course for teaching pronunciation. I also teach customized pronunciation courses at Middlebury Institute of International Studies, in Monterey, California.
