Tip: Suggested padlocks that fit this case

Great case. Very secure storage and worth every penny. I spent quite a bit of time looking for locks for this case. This older style has the padlock holes mounted inboard making it hard to match up with a lock just by eye alone. Read a lot of reviews but no model numbers for suggestions. So here is some help. Amazon has a two pack of padlocks that fit perfectly and look great. Masterlock 380T with Rustoleum finish. About $15 for the two keyed alike locks. Bonus is the locks do not touch the surface of whatever the case is setting on. About 1/4" clearance. I believe they look sharp. Enjoy!

Used the pick n pluck foam to fit 1911s without rails up to 5.75" in barrel length. Essentially this case can fit a full size 1911 or smaller. I have attached pictures of my Ruger SR1911 Commander. The case is sturdy and has double throw latches. Overall, great quality for the price.

This of course is the best case out there a far as quality. The 1170 is a bit small if your looking to pack firearms. I was able to fit a Glock 27, a spare magazine and 50 round case but it is tight. Would've been better without the ammo case for sure. I bought it for air travel because I know I can count on the durability and it can be double locked

Its exactly what I wanted and needed. It fits my S&W M&P 40c perfectly with the magazine released, along with 20 rounds of ammunition in the box. (See pictures). I secure it with 2 Masterlock 140T padlocks for air travel and it is great! No unneeded added weight which is important when considering luggage weight restrictions.

Has the look and feel of a quality case. I bought it for toting one of my full-size 1911s to the range and it works well for that purpose. There seems to be a difference of opinion among reviewers as to whether a 1911 will fit in this case. Length is not a problem at all; however, the rear sights and the bottom of the grip will intrude slightly into the solid foam area surrounding the pick-and-pluck foam. The 1911 remains well protected despite this and I don't see it as a problem (see the photo). Where you might run into trouble is trying to fit a 1911 in the case with an eight-round mag inserted or with an extended mag well. The pick-and-pluck is definitely the poor-man's solution; however, considering the cost of custom foam, it is probably the most cost effective.

This will be perfect for carrying through the airport with TSA compliance. Or through communist states such as New Jersey, California, etc. where you might not be able to use your Concealed Carry Weapon permit.
I put down a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9 with ease within minutes. I was able to fit the pistol with an extended magazine in it, extra two extended magazines side by side, a compact 50 round box of 9 mm and a compact speed loader between the magazines and the ammo box. No rattle, no bouncing. I had to lay down the pulled foam under the pistol and the ammo box. If Just Magazines, I could fit 6 to 8 extended magazines.
For best fitment, I used Lock Master model 141Q padlocks. They came in pack of 4 locks with 2 keys that can open them all. Pelican 1170 takes two padlocks.
The specs for that padlock is 1/4" or 6 mm shackle, 7/8" or 22 mm shackle hoop.

Great case with Pluck-n-Pull foam for custom fitting of stuff going inside. The foam is designed to be in a cubic shape when combined so you can lay down the pulled foam to adjust the depth of the interior to fit the thickness of the item. Only issue I have is that, I have to drill the holes a little bigger to be able to use a high security lock (5/16in diameter shackle)
I used a pop can for reference as to the size of the case. I thought it was a little bigger then it was and was worried it wouldn't work but I was happy it did.

Love the case! Holds my Sig sauer p226 mk25 very nicley with my 3 mags (one in the pistal) their would be enough to fit another two If needed. The pick and pluck foam was easy to cut for that perfect fit.
