Pelican Protector Cases are made with Copolymer Polypropylene, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter that the competion. I was disappointed when I received the case because it was different than the one portrait in the advertisement. The carrying handle and the closing devices/hasps are different than the ones I already owned. I am beginning to suspect that this case is a just a bad replica of the original. I am saying this because I already own a 1650 case that I bought at a military store and the cases are different. In addition, the case shown in the picture is not the same I receive. Again, not happy with the case I received.
In my line of work I do a lot of traveling. The conditions are somewhat austere, and I wanted a "suitcase" that can haul my equipment and clothing around in complete protection. I wanted something that has a military appearance, and that I could use as a footlocker that I can sit on or work on. This is what I got and it's perfect. Not too big not too small. It's a Pelican case, waterproof, weather proof, bullet proof. Get it with the 1659 lid oraganizer.
The ad clearly states "With foam", the pictures show the foam, and the advertisement specifically stated "Pelican's Pick N'Pluck foam lets you customize the interior", the enclosed invoice even states the foam is included. There was no foam AT ALL included with the case! The case is useless for most purposes without the foam! Two calls the the company have so far gone unanswered.

Like all pelican cases this is a solid piece of craftsmanship and now about 2 years later it still is as good as new. I use this for storing and transporting expensive electronic gear. It is FedEx and UPS proof as well!
My needed protection for extreme photo equipment is given. That,s what I want and that,s what I got. The case is heavy, but the protection of the inside is more important for me.
