I play first person shooters quite often, especially Call of Duty, on my PS3. I was planning to simply get another controller to have as a just-in-case controller, and considered a cheap third controller for just that, but after reading reviews on a few third-party controllers, I realized that I would be taking a chance with one, and chances are, I would be burned if it didn't work right. I even had some people tell me that third-party controllers are junk for FPS games. So, I came across this, and thought this could be better than a third-party controller, because these dual triggers PLUS silicone caps are just add-on peripherals for official PS3 controllers. I tried this product on my controller for a few days after getting it, and I love it!

I was used to using the L1 and R1 shoulder buttons for aiming and shooting in Modern Warfare 3, but I flipped the settings for the aim and fire actions to be on the L2 and R2 trigger buttons, and I haven't gone back to the default settings since, because the buttons now feel exactly what they're supposed to feel like: TRIGGERS! I only wish Battlefield 3 had the option to change the aim and trigger buttons. I do not know why Sony made the trigger buttons on the controllers flat when they first started selling the PS3, but that doesn't matter now.

As for the silicone caps for the sticks, they have circular ridges on them, and they do help keep your thumbs from slipping off the sticks. It hasn't happened to me before I got these things, but I was somewhat concerned that it might happen someday. I'm glad I got this product! The only reason I'm rating this 4 stars is because I don't think the product improves your gaming performance, but that's just me. They're just nice add-on peripherals for PS3 controllers, and I definitely recommend getting them!

A definite improvement over the Dualshock's triggers. My fingers would always get tired after constantly holding down the triggers when playing racing games because of the way the triggers slope down when pushed in. I had to actively concentrate on keeping my fingers from slipping off, especially when they got sweaty. The Pelican's slope up at the very ends which pretty much solves the problem. They feel comfortable and natural to use and securely fit on the triggers. They won't snap off unless you want them to.

The silicone caps are a nice bonus. I never had any issues when using the sticks before but these might prevent the surface of the sticks from wearing out faster. Honestly I think I prefer using the sticks without the caps but I have no problem using these and have left them on for convenience.

I don't think I could go back to the DS's triggers after using these. The only thing bad about that is that these are kind of pricey for what you get -- a couple pieces of plastic and silicone costs me 8 bucks. It really should be half that. I just hope they last awhile so I don't have to keep replacing them.

So if you have tired or slippery fingers or hate the feel of the regular triggers then I wholeheartedly recommend these. Oh yea, do NOT try to buy this on ebay. One person was selling triggers which were advertised as PDP Pelicans but in fact are knockoffs. No where on the packaging does it have the brand name, although they try and copy the color and artstyle of the packaging. I bought them without realizing at first they weren't genuine and tried to cancel the purchase but it was too late. I got a refund afterwards but it was still a waste of time because the triggers didn't even work. They wouldn't fit the controller at all so I had to throw them away. I also took a chance on some generic PS3 triggers for like a buck-fifty and those didn't fit either. So I don't know, maybe there is a reason these cost so much more! Anyways I hope this review helped.

A Nice add-on for the Dualshock 3

At the start of the "HD Generation" of Video Games, I started off as a 360 gamer before finally investing in a Playstation 3. One of the biggest changes I had to adjust to with the switch was the Dualshock 3 controller. While a good controller in it's own right, I was disappointed with the lack of triggers on the shoulder buttons and caps on the analog stick. The 360 controller, in my opinion, was better suited for shooters because of the triggers and "indents" in the analog sticks helped with aiming. What also bugged me was that when watching netflix, due to the curve of the R2/L2 buttons, I could find my movies automatically fast forwarding if I placed the controller down on my bed the wrong way.

After doing a little research I decided to buy a pair of these PDP Pelican PS3 Dual Triggers because of the glamorous reviews it have gotten. The silicone caps and triggers are easy to place on the controller, and it makes playing FPS games more enjoyable. The triggers also helped to prevent the "accidental rewind/fastforward" issue I had when viewing movies. My one complaint though is that sometimes the silicone caps will pop off while I am playing a game. They're easy to place on again, but it can be annoying.

Personally, I have a pair of the triggers and I found them essential to playing first person shooters like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 as well as racing/flight sim games because my finger would slip and I would accidentally throw a grenade (giving away mine and/or my team's position) or my finger would just get tired. I actually bought this as a gift for my brother's stocking but he hated the triggers and ended up tossing them aside and using just the thumbstick grips instead which are now apparently essential for the Dualshock 4 once the rubber on his thumbsticks wore out--as that's exactly where they are right now.

Still, great filler item for free shipping though.

I'm very glad this product came with the added "bonus" of the thumb stick grips or it would have been a complete rip off for what i payed. The triggers aren't bad but i can imagine a few ways they could have easily made them better. They tend to pinch my ring fingers because of the way i hold the controller, but they did add some kind of ease of access once you adjust how you hold it. I wish it came with some kind of enhancement for the l1 and l2 buttons also... those are the ones i really needed since i mostly play shooters. The grips are good, more grippy than the normal controller but not amazingly grippy.

overall I'd say this product is pretty good, im sure there's much better out there but it does help somewhat.

The thumbstick caps are excellent, they really help to prevent your thumbs from sliding off. However, perhaps it's just due to my grip (I use my index fingers for L1 and R1 and my middle fingers for L2 and R2) but I find it's more comfortable to hold the controller without the trigger attachments. The DualShock 3 isn't particularly comfortable to hold to begin with, but the triggers actually make it worse.

So, I would recommend the caps, but not the triggers.

These triggers help a good deal with the difficulty in holding the triggers down for a long time (for example racing games) and make it a lot easier to do with less pressure. The included thumbstick pads are a nice touch that help traction on the LS and RS. While the triggers are easy to apply, they pop off sometimes and that can lead to breaking. The thumbstick covers are extremely difficult to get on.

I've owned a pair of "triggers" for a few years now. At the time, they were only available from the UK and cost me about 3 times as much as these but still totally worth it. I have 2 Dualshocks and finally grew tired of swapping between the one with triggers and the one without, so I picked up these.

The face of these is slightly different in appearance but work just as well and at a fraction of what I paid for my original set. The analog covers are amazing as well. I find that playing shooters or any of the NHL games, my thumb tends to slip off the analog...but not with these covers. There have a bit of a texture for added grip and seem to actually work better with more abuse!
