This is real yoga. No glamorous, hollywood style performers or high-tech stuff, just traditional, down-to-earth yoga performed by Indian students. This is the first of it's kind that I've seen that has been fully produced in India and follows various practices from the Gitananda Yoga tradition. The postures are spoken in Sanskrit, but has an option for subtitles in english. Also, the Sanskrit name is displayed on the screen during each posture. The verbal instructions are in english and the female that speaks during the practice is quite easy to understand even though she has a heavy Indian accent. Her voice is lovely and soothing and I absolutely love the overall "feel" of this video. The gentleman that speaks during the first and last segment is a little more difficult to understand, so the subtitles are extremely helpful. The music is very relaxing, traditional indian music and the backgrounds are various nature scenes in India. The postures are performed by one student at a time and there are various students performing the postures both of Indian and Caucasian. .

Although many postures are easy, some are much more difficult and should be practice with awareness. There is not a lot on instruction on form nor beginner level alternatives, so I would highly recommend regular classroom instruction if you are not somewhat familiar with yoga already. This is an excellent instruction video to help refresh your yoga practice and build an at-home series that you can use for years.

I would recommend having the DVD remote close by so you can pause the instruction are various times to perform the postures and movements for a longer time.
