This story is very short and published by a firm, Pure Read, who state that all their novels are clean Christian publications.
The tale is a sequel to P&P. Elizabeth draws the attention, while at a dinner, of a former actress who has married well and has a young daughter, Tomasina/Tommy. Lady Caroline Descartes intends to give her daughter a season in London BUT with her elderly husband in failing health and with society knowing of her former occupation is seeking a sponsor for Tommy. Elizabeth is the lady so "honored". Georgiana decides to forward her own debut after meeting the spirited young lady her sister is sponsoring.
After some success at Almack's and in other arenas, it appears that Tomasina has formed an attachment with young Lord Philip Edgerton...who has been disowned by his father due to his desire to make his way in life as a poet.
And then Lady Catherine hears that not only has her nephew taken into his household the daughter of an actress but has allowed the girl to meet a suitor...unchaperoned. And Lady C. is on her way to his estate to deal with this "Pemberly set".
Yes, this Caroline is nobody's fool and she plays her role as wife and mother well as many parties make their way by invite or not to Pemberley.
This novella has no real angst but is cleverly written as one set of parents find their way to work for their child's happiness and a relatively secure future.
This was an adorable story of young love, perseverance and an excellent performance by a talented actress. OMG! Elizabeth and Darcy find themselves with two young girls in the midst of their first Season attending balls at all hours and a parlor full of interested young men.
Poor Darcy… he scowled appropriately to keep the young men at bay. Elizabeth teased him by saying she would tell a potential fortune hunter that they were going to let Pemberley the following week and that she was in the process of selling her shoes so they could pay the butcher’s bill. Hilarious!
The best part of the story was when everyone converged on Pemberley and Lady Catherine stormed the place. OMG!! It was delicious. And then, Lord and Lady Descartes stormed in. What a performance. Man, that was so good. All the major parties were present for a showdown. It was so cute.
