May Be Awkward for a Kiddo With Fine Motor Challenges To Use or Adjust To
I bought these for our son, who is five and has a host of developmental delays. His fine motor skills are especially hard hit, and this is something I purchased to see if it might help him grip a crayon better. So the good news is that you can get this on a crayon. The bad news? You totally may break it in the process, but at least this holds the two ends together firmly enough that it doesn't seem to wobble ;) All joking aside, I had to use a lot of pressure to ease this onto the crayon, and I can see where it cracked inside the gripper. Anyways, he hates these. Totally, totally hates these, has thrown me several expressions of complete and total disdain that have been termed "the Potty Scotty" face in this house (because it's the look he gave that doll right out of the box), when approached with using a crayon with this gripper, and is finding them awkward as of right now to use. Finally yesterday I was able to get him to hold it correctly for about 3 seconds. He drew a line, gave me the stink eye, and flounced off. I actually think he's doing better with the crayon alone at the moment, but he's not actually holding the crayon in the correct position either, so there's a part of me that thinks this is still worth trying for a little while because I think it could help him get the correct hand position quicker, because I think it tends to be easier to grip wider things for kiddos with fine motor challenges or developing fine motor skills. Generally. So we're still going to be trying with these for a bit more, but I can see how these would be more effective for a larger hand. Because he's non-verbal, and isn't in a place communication wise where he's willing to do anything more then hit his "I don't like it" or "I don't want" button on his computer about it, I asked my daughter who's nearly 11 to try these out and give me some feedback, and she says it feels a bit awkward to use. So my final verdict on these is that they may be helpful, but they could be more awkward for smaller hands, I don't think they're harmful, and I like that they are soft without having a tacky feel to them. Because if they'd been tacky, I don't think he'd have been willing to use them at all at this point.

The Pencil Grip Pencil Grips, The Crossover Grip, Metallic Ergonomic Writing Aid, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! These pencil grips have made a significant difference in the way I write, and here are a few reasons why I love them:

      1. Ergonomic Design: The Crossover Grip features an ergonomic design that promotes proper finger positioning while writing. It has a unique shape that guides both righties and lefties to hold their pencils correctly, reducing strain and fatigue during extended writing sessions.

      2. Metallic Colors: The grips come in assorted metallic colors, adding a touch of fun and creativity to my writing tools. They are visually appealing and make my pencils look stylish.

      3. Comfortable Grip: These pencil grips are incredibly comfortable to hold. They provide a secure and comfortable grip on the pencil, allowing me to write for longer periods without hand cramps.

      4. Versatile: Whether you're a right-handed or left-handed writer, these grips are versatile and cater to both. It's a fantastic option for schools and classrooms where students have different writing preferences.

      5. Durability: I've been using these grips for a while now, and they have proven to be durable. They don't wear out quickly, making them a cost-effective choice for anyone who frequently uses pencils.

      6. Improved Handwriting: One of the most significant benefits I've noticed is an improvement in my handwriting. The grips help me maintain better control over my pencil, resulting in neater and more legible writing.

Overall, The Pencil Grip Pencil Grips, The Crossover Grip, Metallic Ergonomic Writing Aid, have been a game-changer for me. They combine comfort, style, and functionality, making them an excellent addition to my writing tools. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve their handwriting and writing experience.

These grips are great. I have tried others before and the biggest difference is that these can fit on various types of writing utensils AND they show you the right way to hold instead of forcing your fingers into small holders. These help enforce the right placement but your fingers can still move within the sides and bottom. I have put these on and off of pencils, markers, sharpies, white board markers and crayons. They are easy to use? Come in different colors and are durable with comfort for even little hands.

We first used these when our daughter's preschool teacher gave her one to help correct her grip. She has had issues with griping pencils with her entire fist which makes her handwriting messy and tiring. These help so much! They also seem to work as a 'trainer', meaning she will use one while writing for several minutes then take it off and continue to hold the pencil correctly. The first one we had didn't last long when the dogs got at it. They are soft and colorful which seems to make them yummy looking to pets. After the first one was chewed up we went to the store to try and replace it only to find every other type of grip except this one. We bought several others which didn't help at all before buying these here. The only other sites we could find them on were school supply shops that only sold packs of a dozen or more, charged more than amazon (on a price-per-each comparison), and wanted nearly the same cost as the grips in shipping. I was so happy to find these here with free shipping. Having these grips has allowed me, as a now homeschooling parent, to use less expensive pencils rather than continue to purchase the triangular shaped pencils we were buying at $3 per 8-pack. At first I was disappointed that they weren't sold individually but now I like having all six; there are more if one gets lost, more for siblings to use, a variety of colors, and enough to put on several sharpened pencils to have on hand to avoid removing the grip to sharpen the pencil in the middle of a lesson.
