Should Be Called Blank "Paper" Cards

I purchase many items on a weekly basis from Amazon and 99% of the time I read the reviews. I video reviewed this cheap, thin index card. It would be easier to just cut up a piece of copier paper in half and call it an index card than to purchase this item. When the product arrived, the packing box wasn't damaged but the item was damaged because the product is so paper thin.

When I got out my digital thickness gauge, this product measured 0.12 mm in thickness verses the 5" x 8" generic index card from Office Max that measures 0.19 mm in thickness. This is more than 50% thinner than the Office Max generic brand.

Not Bad, Served Their Purpose

I bought these index cards to print double-sided flash cards with my laser printer, and they serve their purpose just fine - a bit of see-through but not enough to make them bad for flash cards (although they probably aren't durable enough for use in a classroom). They definitely are not made out of card stock like the index cards from yesteryear; instead, they're perhaps somewhat thicker than resume paper, probably around 36LB or so. This may actually be a blessing - they feed and print just fine with my Brother laser printer whereas card stock might've jammed or the toner might not have fused correctly.

Overall, a good purchase. If I need card stock, I'll buy something else, but I'll definitely reorder these if I just need to make flash cards that'll only see light use.

Waste of money.

Absolutely awful quality, these barely qualify as "cards." If you hold one up to light or a window, you can clearly see you fingers on the other side. That should not happen with an index "card."

There is no way this stands up to a felt pen, much less a marker, without bleeding through. Even a ballpoint will cause some damage: the ink may not bleed through, but the pressure of the point definitely will "scar" the other side of the card, effectively making that unusable.

These are barely heavier than 20 lb. copy paper. The paper in a good notebook (e.g. Moleskine, Rhodia) is heavier than what appeared in this pack. (I got burned for the 1,000 ct. in packs of 10). Perhaps someone got a good bunch at another time, or perhaps the quality is just inconsistent between batches. In either event, it's probably best to avoid this card and brand altogether.

I use these index cards for both home, and office. I usually prefer white, as I label them for my office needs. We also use these cards for games, and basically to label many items at home, such as dinners in plastic containers to store in the freezer. They are light in weight, but serve the purpose for a variety of needs.

In addition, over the last 15 years, I've spent too much money when purchasing index cards in office supply stores at many locations. I receive many more from ordering on Amazon, I don't need to waste valuable work time to drive to stores, and wait on cashier lines. Most important, this is a great bargain price.

For office, I almost use everyday, and create my own labels from these cards. They come in handy, and are right at my finger-tips. We use these for certain games, such as clue, when you run out of cards that came with the game, but can still play the game. We use these as keeping score cards, as well as labels for several products in my home. We are very satisfied, as these index cards come in handy for many uses. This is where I will indeed order again. Highly recommended!

Great tool to use with my real estate studying.

I am preparing to take my Real estate exam soon. I used notebooks to write down the million things one must learn in order to ace the challenging NC exam. I found that notebooks simply don't work for me. I feel unorganized and find myself running out of space cramming words all over the place. I bought this index set as multiple packs. I should definitely not worry about running out anytime soon. They are thin, but that does not bother me. I am now confident and organized as I transfer study notes from notebook to the cards. Small size cards, yet; very spacious. I use both sides to write info. Now I am studying and reading essential information with clarity. Five stars indeed.

Why all the complaining?

At about 1/2 cent each (Prime shipping included), these index cards are a very good deal.

As expected, a heavy-tipped permanent marker (Duramark) bleeds through slightly if you press down hard. However, ball point, gel tip, and ultra fine point Sharpies (black or red) do NOT bleed through.

The card stock is thin, but certainly not "paper thin" as some complain. They are the exact same weight as 4" x 6" index cards I bought at Staples some time ago. You want fancy, heavyweight cards? Fine. Go to Levenger and pay seven times as much.

These come neatly bundled in packs of 100 (1,000 cards in all) which keeps things a lot neater for storage. (It will take me a long time to use up all these cards.)

Never thought I'd write a review about index cards. But the negative comments almost kept me from ordering and they're exaggerated, in my view.

Way too thin to be used as flash cards.

Oh my goodness these are soooo thin!!!! I can’t wrapping a rubber band around these to keep them together. I send my daughter to school with a few cards a day and these will totally curl up with a rubber band. They are so thin you can see the lines through on the blank side. Soooooo terrible. They are just paper!
