I'm about halfway through Cold Vegence and definately NOT looking for spoilers...but I'm perplexed at the timeline on the Pendergast series. I'm at the point in the book where Dr. Felder finds "a three year old article in the New York Times, of all places" - the article Smithback wrote in Cabinet of Curiosities.

I've always assumed that the Pendergast series more or less followed present times. Now I'm confuesed...are the authors asking us to believe that the events of Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life With Crows, Brimstone, Dance of Death, Book of the Dead, Wheel of Darkness, Cemetary Dance, Fever Dream, and Cold Vegence all took place in roughly three years?

Can anyone shed any light on this?
