*The Hudson Bay blanket is definitely thicker and "fluffier". If you are looking for a utilitarian blanket for ultimate warmth, I would say go with the Hudson.
*The Pendleton blanket has a tighter weave, is denser, and has finished edges on all sides. It looks more refined.
*In my opinion, the Pendleton has a softer hand. I found the Hudson Bay scratchy.
*If you are thinking of longevity or the heirloom quality, I think the Pendleton would age better due to the tighter weave and finished edges. The Hudson Bay blanket arrived with loose fibers at the edges. How will it look after 10 or 20 years?
*Due to the tighter weave of the Pendleton, it seems to pill less and transfer less "fuzzies" to other bedding/clothing.
*The Pendleton is more affordable. The high price of the Hudson seems to be primarily due to the name brand.

Usefulness. We're all different, some are "warm" sleepers (as I am) and some are "cool" or "cold". I've used down comforters for years now and wonderful as they are they are just too warm for me in our VA climate, other than during the few single digit F. days we have. Its ucky waking up in the middle of the night awash because of being too warm. So, finally (duh) reverted back to my Western CO upbringing and viola bought this high quality wool blanket. Been great since, plenty toasty, and best of all wool over cotton sheets (both of which wick fabulously) actually breathes! That property makes a good wool blanket useful for a range of sleepers across a range of conditions. Happy, happy!
If ya want a good basic wool blanket like what (some of us dotage entering) might remember from yore, get this - you likely won't regret.
