I should note that the producer says the sweater is machine washable, but I haven't tried that nor have I had the need yet. It's an attractive enough sweater that I might just be inclined to dry clean it regardless of the manufacturer's claims.
At first glance, I wasn't sure this sweater was really a Pendleton. But the tag clipped to the sewn-in Made in China label says Warranted to be a Pendleton, Pendleton Woolen Mills. Hmmm. I tried it on and wore it for an hour, but never really felt any kind of warmth. When I took it off I noticed my white shirt was covered in short dark fibers.
So, this guy is going back and I will continue to search for a replacement of my tattered twenty year old L.L. Bean wool sweater that looks like hell, but still keeps me toasty warm. Incidentally, I ordered a replacement from L.L. Bean and it wasn't much heavier than this Pendleton. Maybe what I am looking for is now extinct. Please leave a comment below if you have discovered a source for such a sweater. Thanks.
